Walnut stock build

Hi Cam, I just read and watched everything I could find online and took a lot of time looking at styles to try to emulate. There is a tonne of stuff online and I couldn't point at any single material that I used the most. There are many on here that are vastly more experienced than I, that will hopefully chime in.

I really like midway USA YouTube stuff with Larry Potterfield...I found his teaching style easy for me to understand. There are also some great threads on here that walk through step by step with lots of pictures

I got my walnut from Calico Hardwoods in California....price was reasonable

Winter project completed...sure have a new found respect for the guys that do this regularly. Still a couple spots that could use some added attention but gotta get it ready for hunting....Started as a Calico chunk of AA Fancy walnut...a bit of African blackwood and a whole lot of work=

Would you recommend waiting until you do a couple more to work out the kinks before I place my order? Seriously though, some beautiful work.

Can14, that recoil pad is terrible but itll have to do until hunting season is over...one of those things. I'd like to put a red pad on it

Dmcdam thank you but a couple more might take me 10 years Haha

Thanks very much guys.

Littlehughey, I really dont know who would be the go to as I have never had one built...but I have ordered from Boyd's and Richard's microfit and was content with both. The Richards needs work done to it but it sure is much easier than starting with a blank. Hoping some could throw some of those names/details in this thread....
