Walther PPQ 45 .45ACP

What kind of issue ?

It's a pretty big issue on the PPQ forums. In fact it is the top "sticky topic" on http://www.waltherforums.com/forum/ppq/ and that thread is like 32 pages. It evolved and it seems that Walther in the US (Umarex?) are now acknowledging the issue and some users are getting replacement barrels (not in Europe from what I read). It relates to the polygonal-rifled barrel and plating and the Q5 is also prone to the issue.

You can also read about it on the Walther Reddit.

I would like more info from North Sylvia to ensure
1) the issue from Walther is fixed especially on these handguns slated for Canada
2) if not and the barrel does get pitted, will we in Canada be able to get a replacement barrel (since in Europe they are not but in US they are)

BTW people are also upset that the replacement barrel numbers no longer match the pistol.

It's a known issue and curious as why hasn't North Sylva responded.

Wow ! Big issue like you mention. Makes me think twice before getting it.

Thanks !

We spoke with a Walther USA rep at SHOT and discussed this topic. This "barrel issue" is only a visual imperfection that affected small batch of guns. It does not cause a negative affect neither on accuracy nor reliability. Simply put, there is no problem with these guns.

The Walther PPQ is designed to be a service pistol, designed to work in the toughest environment. It's not a museum piece.

Well that's a little disappointing...

When buying a new firearms I would expect any OEM finish/Coating to not be defective, regardless of if the firearm was designed for combat or a museum piece. It should be every manufactures goal to ensure all customers receive the same high quality product and not say "meh good enough if it hits paper"

We received new shipment from Ulm, Germany. Will be available at dealers in the next week or so.

If only we could get the 9mm with that barrel length. I love my PPQ navy but would love it even more without the useless threaded bit sticking out the end.

Of course, being able to have a can for the end of it would be pretty cool too.

I completely agree. I hate the threaded barrel on mine. Almost should have bought the longer version. I went to the gun smith to see if they could chop it off but they told me it would make it too short to be legal. Almost wish I bough the 40 or this 45 but ammo for the 9mm is cheaper so I can't really complain. Still love the gun.
