Walther Running Boar Rifle

That's a good idea. I currently have Neal working on an Anschutz 5109 trigger for me, and I could ask him about the best plan for bedding a Walther. Unfortunately, his being across the border makes it pretty well impossible for me to have him do the work. I know Henry Rempel is good with Anschutzes (I had him bed a 1712 for me a while ago); I wonder whether he's done some Walthers.

Henry might very well be the go to guy. Another contact might be Wayne or Arne Sorenson in Calgary. Wayne was dealing Walthers a few years ago and still may be and Arne IIRC did shoot them in the 70s. I don't have contact info for them

Got Juice? can you explain how the "bloop tube" attached to your barrel works? Does it function as a tuner, or do you have to add more to it to use it to tune the barrel?

Here's another question for you guys who really know Walthers:

I've wondered about action-screw tension and couldn't find anything on it in the KK User's Manual. In the one session that I shot my KKMS, I had both action screws torqued to 25 in.-lbs., which is the tension I've been using on my Anschutzes. What tension have you guys been using, and do you know what Walther recommends? Anschutz at least publish a recommendation--although at 5 Nm (or 44.25 in./lbs.), it's a lot more than most guys are actually applying to the screws.

This thread has got me interested again in my Walthers. As you can tell, I don't know much about Walthers. I haven't shot the KKMS for a number of months and was thinking of selling it after the not-so-great groups I got in the one session. My Anschutzes have done better so far, but maybe the Walther deserves another chance!;)

Glenn, that's really helpful. A couple of questions: First, it looks as it there's only one pillar. Second, did you (or the 'smith) remove the threaded pillar for the front action screw before installing that front pillar in the stock? Maybe your KKM didn't have the same threaded front action-screw pillar that my KKMS has (as shown above in Post #30).

If you're willing, could you PM me with the name of the gunsmith who did the work (unless you did it!). Looks like a very nice job. Has the bedding improved the accuracy?

Ralph, I've sent you a PM. I'll have to ask who did the work.

Unfortunately, Joe Eaton died some time ago. From what i have been told from owner#2 that it is a barrel tuner. The curious thing is that it is fixed. The whole assy can be removed (leaving a target crowned barrel w threads)
It is a very good shooting rifle from what I can tell but today did not cooperate (windy)

I will need a day where I can run with or without the tube and see what the affect is.

Joe was primarily a MS shooter, so i am at a loss to explain it any further. It would only be speculation if I did.
