Wanstalls Sure Shot 50 BMG Big MotherF@#$ing Giveaway

I just read the rules, so it's not really a 1 in 500 odds of winning.

8. No purchase necessary: To obtain a free entry and/or a copy of the Official Rules, write to Commonwealth Supplies Ltd., 8540 Greenall ave, Burnaby BC V5J 3M6. Each envelope must include a handwritten request for a entry. No mechanical reproductions of requests permitted, limit of one request per envelope with sufficient postage. All requests for a free entry must be postmarked no later than October 25, 2016 and received no later than November 1, 2016. All requests must include a postage-paid, self addressed return envelope.
Hello,
with the above noted and reading the rules....anybody apply for the no purchase necessary and receive the entries???????????

I am kicking myself for not buying a BA50 back when they were for sale for less than 6 grand. I know, the dollar tanked, but I just haven't been able to swallow my pride enough to drop 7k on a gun that was available for $5700 a few years ago. Now if I was to win one...

Want to take the opportunity to thank Gary with Wanstalls. Not only were they beyond flexible with my order (2 separate shipments) they even looked into getting one expedited to land before I left back for work - all with 'on sale' items. And in addition to a free 'house of 1911' t-shirt they sent me a mouse pad. Nice guys! I actually really needed a mouse pad too haha.

ps I bought a sureshot 10 pack to enter me in this draw as well. Yahoo!

Cheers,
Armand

They're not mailing no purchase entries in to us, they're going directly to Sure Shot, not sure if they received any
Good info to know...was not implicating you guys, just know that there was discussion here about the "No purchase necessary" entries and was looking for info.
Have purchased from you guys and know your straight up and responsive to customers........thanks again..

I know a couple people at my gun club that sent in entries about a month ago and say they have not received anything back in the mail. Judging from the wording in the rules I'd imagine they are waiting until nov 1 to mail them all out at once, rather than making daily trips to mail them out.

According to my interpretation the entries have to be received by Nov. 1st.... the draw is to be made on or about Nov.2nd.......

I'll use a rhetorical example.

Person A sends in for a write in ticket. Well in advance of the deadline. Wanstall's/Sure Shot receive said entry request, and issue a ticket to person A. Let's go even far enough to say that they will wait until deadline to mail out all the entries to the write-ins, at once, as previously suggested.

Not having the ticket in your hand, does not necessarily make you not registered with an entry. If the write in, gets in prior to the close, it would be registered, if it meets the write in guidelines. That would be the same as thinking that if your write in, met the guidelines, and was received two days before deadline by W/SS; that it would not be valid. Not so; just "in the mail". Do you think they are gonna overnight courier it to you before Nov. 2, if they receive it on Oct 31?

There are regulations to do such type "giveaway" promotions. I know neither vendor. They would have to be insane to circumvent the regulations for such type draws, as I am sure that there would be some type of penalty potential.

If you are that suspicious, don't enter. I could have wrote in, but chose to purchase, instead. To support a vendor who is doing a good turn, for someone. I would think that for business PR "visual perception", it would be better for W/SS to have a write-in win.

Do you really thin they are just tossing the write-ins into the shredder?

A rhetorical example for sure....just to clarify I DID purchase AND chose to send for some write in ballots....maybe as you stated "not having ticket in hand does not mean you are not registered" well may be, but as I read the rules it says #8 No purchase necessary ...All requests for free entry must be post marked no later than Oct.25/16 and received no later than Nov.1/16. All requests must include a postage paid self-addressed return envelope. To me this means they will send you a ticket for you to fill out and return...BEFORE Nov.1/16. Maybe I'm wrong but to me that is what it says.....I would say that I am not suspicious just wondering........AND since you seem to know how it works (when others I have talked with interpret it like I do) I'll take your learned opinion that not having a ticket in hand does not mean I'm (or the others) are not entered,,BUT how do we know if we don't get an entry??

There you go - No purchase necessary under defined conditions.

So what information did you provide with your order? Don't answer - internet and all. The same as I did, any anyone else that placed an order. Somehow that got me a ticket. I didn't fill out a ballot. I'm looking at my ticket right now. For all I know, I have your ticket, mine only has a number. Maybe you have mine. It might be a hint that they have your name and address.

And some people are paying for a ticket, by placing an order. You don't expect to have to do a little legwork for a write in ticket? Others are paying for the privilege to not have to do that. The no purchase necessary must be offered, if it is legit and legal. The conditions are laid out, so you shouldn't be surprised if you get SFA if your request isn't post dated until Oct. 29. Meet the conditions - simple - and written quite clearly.

Now, I'll admit two things. I was going to try to up my odds with some write in requests, and I read the conditions then. I know I'm not motivated enough to do that, so I'll roll with my one entry, and be happy. Secondly, I'm lazy. Not going to go read the conditions again. Did you stop to think that the SASE may just also conveniently include the info needed to enter you in the draw? And that they may be able to use that to send your ticket stub back to you, since you didn't outlay cash for that ticket, like others did? You paid shipping for the Sure Shot, did you not? So you expect they will send you the free ticket on their dime? The free ticket isn't good enough for you?

Now maybe, yes, the write in conditions may outline that you will be pen pals for awhile until you get your ticket. See above, I didn't go re-read, because I'm not going to mail in. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong on the purpose of the SASE. Seems the conditions on the write ins ensure that people who paid in, or wrote in early, don't have to wait for stragglers as draw date is Nov. 2, in lieu of sellout. Seems fair. Or maybe they do want to pay someone to be pen pals with you and however many others, to send them free tickets. That would be a non cost-effective business model.

It makes me puke how many want to scam draws like these. Sure, it's not technically a scam, but the "no purchase necessary" people want something for free.

Buck up, get yourself a case of fun boom targets and enter like anyone else.
