Hey all.

Any ideas why wanstalls have thier laminate sks at 200 and lever has them at 250. What is levers justification?

Any one have pictures or ideas ?
Thanks

Whatever the market will bear. It means the highest price you can sell your goods at in the market you are in

i got my sks from lever a few years ago when they had a deal on. 300$ for the rifle and a box of m43. maybe they paid more for their recent shipment. the sks prices seem to go up and down a lot in the gvrd.

i hear wholesale in langley has them for 187$. havent verified that. but with all the bad experiences i have had there i woudlnt touch that place with a 10' pole.

Wanstalls: nicest one I've ever seen... perfect bayo, bore, gorgeous stock... never shopped at Lever. Cosmo clean-up though, just to warn you.

SKS prices range from $150 - $300 depending on shop and version of rifle.

+/- $50 is average differentiation. Just goto both and handpick whichever looks best to you.

Lever just got on the band wagon like all the rest of the dealers. If you check Levers stock the rifles they have still have the mags limited to 5 with a plug that is welded to the bottom of the mag which eventually breaks and falls out, this has to be the same stock from a few years back. Lever used to sell their SKS for $199.99, did not matter laminated or birch stock or the years 49-56 did not matter when the other dealers were selling for $50-$60 higher. There are alot of catch words out there the dealers like to use like quality, handpicked, ect ect, don't get sucked into the game.

I bought one at Wanstalls, it's gorgeous. Don't know what the "game" is, a $199 SKS with a like-new bore, metal, bluing, bayo and beautiful laminated stock is worth it. Just like any online sale, you are gambling. You might get the last ugly duckling in the crate or a #'s matching beauty.

Just from the Chinese SKS's I've seen, the metal work can't compare to the Russian's.

This was my first purchase at Wanstalls and I was really impressed with the sks they sent me. Tons of nice ones out there for you guys.

ahhh lever. anybody else remember buying an SKS for $79 and a case of Norinco for another $80. those were the days. wish i would have bought one of the M203's they had on the shelf for $300 back then too.

Thought this thread is about the present price and quality of sks's... not when gas was .60c/litre.

Well then, how about when gas was 39 cents a Gallon and marine gas was two bits?

Lever had unfired Webley .38s for $14.99, Mark VI .455s for $16 and Webley WGs for $24.95, Kar-43s for $65 unfired. Minimum wage was $1.25 an hour in BC, 50 cents in Manitoba. I was there, both places.

The market is what determines the price of anything. I have a Garand here with 300 rounds through it since new. Because I have shot the thing, do I discount the price downward from the $185 I paid for it? Or do I follow what everyone else is doing and price it at more than a G?

BTW, nice to know that there are some SKSs around on which the magazines have not been permanently butchered. They are such a nice little rifle.... and 5 rounds is idiotic in a rapid-fire match, which is what we shoot around here.

Note to self: petition to get that stupid "law" changed. There is an exception built into it for target shooters, just the CFOs refuse to implement it because they "know better" than the people who (unwillingly) PAY THEIR FAT SALARIES.
.

So wanstalls is out of sks's and nothing coming in at all.
lever arms has shooter grade forced match refurbs for 200
or non refurbs for 250.

Was wanstalls non refurbs?

It doesn't have ######'s on there, like little symbols or something. The previous SKS had the X's on there...

Its a refurbishment stock. Not a refurbed stock, but a brand new surplus lam stock used on refurbed SKSs. That's why its missing the '######'s mark, despite being refurbed.

What year is it? Between 1952-54 I'm guessing. I see it has two stock bolts as well. Is it a Tula or Izhevsk?

I was actually just at lever arms picking up a case of ammo for mine. they have a ton of them in stock and they are good people. that said i also love wanstalls. regardless of where you get one i am sure you will be happy. i would have paid double for mine and still been smiling.

btw w/e you do, DO NOT GIVE WHOLESALE SPORTS ANY OF YOUR BUSINESS!!!!
those a******s sold me a 500 rd brick of .22 ammo (rem yellow jacket) for 44.95 and when i got home and finally opened it up it was missing 2 50 rd boxes. then i find that same brick for $10 less at lever arms. the only time i'll ever go back to w.s.s. is to loot during the Zombie Apocalypse...LMAO
