want to know about tikka t3

You cannot adjust a factory Stevens trigger to anywhere near a Tikka factory trigger... (I can tell you that from adjusting atleast 20 in the last couple years) The savage/Stevens is more "Tinkerable". As in has many aftermarket products available for it including multiple barrel/Caliber options on the same action. All you need is a savage barrel wrench, a good vise, and some go-no guages for headspacing, and you have a 15 minute switch barrel rifle...
The stevens stocks are much cheaper feeling than a T3, and are definately less rigid than a T3 stock. But the differnce is literally twice the price...
It all depends on what is more important to you as a buyer... Functionality over beauty (savage), or a bit of both (Tikka). the Tikka T3 is a much nicer looking gun than a Stevens 200 and is heavier (which IMHO, points better)
A good comparison for the T3 lite is a savage 116, or a 114 Ultra... When you start comparing apples to apples, the price difference is in 10's of dollars rather than hundreds of dollars
The Tikka bolt is much easier to use. Shorter throw, and a much much much smoother Push-pull. But... the savage action is much stronger than the Tikka,
They both have their ups and down, and neither is better than the other... Both have the ability to equally fit a niche, it all depends on what your niche is.

i guess i should of said i had a Stevens 200 i wanted to get something with a detachable magazine cause i trap and will use it check traps and shoot the odd coyote and paper i get out of the truck alot and having to unload every shell one at a time gets old real fast.i am just looking for a good dependable gun.i don't mind fiberglass stocks. if anybody knows of something that will work better for the money please tell me.

Deerhunter, you'll get nothing but opinions from a bunch of people that have very likely NEVER even handled a T3, let alone shot one... But being the Internet, EVERYONE has an opinion...
The T3 is a great carry rifle. On line with it are Remington M700's with a DM (detatchable mag) Browning Abolts with the DM floorplates. Savage makes a 110 DM and 10 DM,Weatherby vanguard (or Howa 1500) rifles
I can list about 15 comparable rifles used and new, and all will be within 200.00 either way, and all have their plusses and minuses (which become HUGE issues when there is nothing else to discuss on the Net... ) but usually are redundant.

Stay away from a Mossberg ATR. Its cheap, but on line pricewise with a stevens 200 (direct price competitors) The ATR works albiet better than a 710, there are better rifles in the price range
And the 710. Biggest POS for under 500.00 (should be around 250.00)
My best sugggestion would be to go to your local reputible shop, and handle some guns...
See what you like rather than what a bunch of internet experts tells you you need...
Just my 2 cents

And replace those parts with heavier and more expensive old technology materials and push the weight and cost up for no logical reason.
Makes sense to me....
Gee, can't argue with that.........
I guess Plastic is Better, shoot they'll probably start using it on the Sako line soon too:runaway:

Like I've SAID many times but I'll repeat it for you again........
They (the T3) are FINE rifles........I just don't like the Plastic Parts and that is my oppinion.
If you've convinced yourself that "Plastic" is better then so be it:)

Another vote for the Tikka, my T3 270 WSM makes me look like a sniper every time I take it out. My only worry when shooting it is doing my part, I know the Tikka will do its part.

My T3 Lite SS (300WSM) has done everything I've asked of it and more. It shoots sub-moa (closer to 1/2 moa) and is extremely light and reliable.

Recoil is stiff, but it's a hunting (carry a lot - shoot a little) type rifle. My limbsaver tames it down pretty good, though...

Much better than the Remmy I sold for it, IMO.

I clearly stated that these materials were used to keep costs down and the original question clearly did not ask about guns in the 1500 dollar range.
Hijack if you must... but give it a name.:p

I have shot lots of Tikkas, and loaded for them also,, and have lost count of the number of Savages I have shot and loaded for over the years.
I have done some repairs on both, and would not have a problem owning either if I were looking for a good bolt action rifle to hunt and trap with.
Get either with a detachable magazine, synthetic stock, and yer good to go!

I prefer the Tikka magazines to the Savage magazine however, plastic or not.

Yes you made mention of that, however you also Obscure the Facts with a Bunch of mumbo jumbo about "New Technology" blah blah blah.......

I already answered the "original question"...He wanted to KNOW which parts were Plastic and I answered that :)

At least you Conceed they use the Plastic because it's CHEAP:D

I don't have a Bone to pick about Tikkas......I've owned quite a Few...even built a 458 Win Mag on a 695 just for ####s;)

Like I've said on numerous threads about T3's...they are Fine Rifles I just think they could be so Much more if they put a Metal Bolt shroud and triggerguard on them :)

it really remind me the first time when the people saw the Glock, sooo many stories about how unreliable,so many horr the plastic(its really not plastic) part, today how the people saying the Glock?? if T3 were made 20 years ago,I`ll stay away from the plastic part, but not today, some people need some update with the new technology LOL
