Hi Folk,
Greetings from Ireland! Not so long ago, I managed to make a childhood dream come true in that I finally get to own my own M14.
It's the Polytech M305 version, synthetic stock. Ordered in from your great nation of Canada
I must say I was over the moon bringing it down to the range to shoot it the first time.
Since these beauties aren't exactly readily available on my side of the pond, I want to make sure I take as good care of it as possible and minimize any improper use that would require repairs or new parts since most replacement parts would require applying for import licenses and jumping through a lot hoops and red tape.
I'm sure this information has already been documented somewhere, but I don't seem able to find it.
Could someone give me a good routine for what parts need to be looked after (for example I read a recent thread where it was mentioned not to oil up the gas system, why is that?). Which parts would need to be oiled/lubed up?
I really want to make this rifle last, since it is a bit of a childhood dream to own one, so any suggestions of a good routine, which parts to oil/lube, and maybe some basic do's and don'ts and any specific parts that would be better to order the custom made bits for would be really appreicated.
Sorry if I'm being too generic here, I'm sure books could be written on the subject.
Very thankful for any responses
