So I'm just getting back into shooting (after a 20 year break), and would like a firearm that is distinctly mine. I figure building an AR from scratch is a good way to go about that.
I've been putzing around on here, and out in the web, for the past few hours, trying to piece together information. I know the lower has to be pulled in domestically, and everything else can be gathered anywhere else. However the sticky point ( and this may be ignorant, but this is why I ask) is:
Could I make a .308 AR that can be used as a precision rifle?
long barrel, scope, bipod....ect.
Seems most everything I can find with some digging, however the lower receiver is proving to be difficult.
Is this something I should just give up on, and settle for a .223? I'm a big guy, and like big firearms.... but I also don't want to spend $4000 on my first build.
Any information would be helpful, I have checked out all the sponsored links at the top of this site, with no joy.
