This is me getting my money's worth.

I'm a big boy, and can deal with losing money. I'm not looking for sympathy, but I'm not about to let another member of our community have the same experience I've had with Tim @ SKSPARTSANADA.COM

To give you the short story, I purchased a 1949 SKS from Tim Labreqcue @ SKSPARTSCANADA.COM back in Nov, 2015. Upon receipt, it was clear the rifle had a Chinese Bayo. I paid 1949 SKS for this rifle. I didn't want to hold on to it, knowing I didn't get my money's worth, but I didn't want to try and re sell it, knowing I wouldn't be selling a genuine 1949. I reached out to Tim and asked for a return and refund. Instead of professional and prompt customer service, I received the following email in response to my concerns of the rifle being genuine.

"absolutely not a fake , that's rediculous, imposible to do, for a 700.00 rifle, so tell your source to get a life and a clue. Stay off those forums, they are full of viruses and retards[/B]. How do you duplicate all the differences only 49s have? The stock with the unique slit for spikes, and the ferrale, 90 degree gas blocks, looped take down latch, it goes on and on. Yes there are always discrepancies in a piece that old, especially with bayonets, they are often missing and replaced with whatever, but you have a very nice 49 and don't let anyone tell you any different. Just look at others out there , with painted barrels , refurbished marks stamp on the reciever cover, do you know what's under the BBQ paint, sand blasted metal , perminately runed. Anyway, if any of your sources want to talk to someone who actually knows what there talking about, give them my number..."

The email went on and on, but in the end, Tim told me I could return the rifle.

I returned the rifle, via Canada Post, and even explained that I would be willing to cover the cost of rtn shipping. (Tim received the returned rifle on Dec 9th)

I went a few days without hearing from anyone, or receiving a refund. 3 emails later, with no reply, and doing some investigating on the internet, I sent another email to Tim, providing him with his personal address to let him know he can't hide behind a P.O Box), explaining that the RCMP in Duncan, BC would be informed of the matter. I also explained that I intended to contact the CRA to report tax evasion/fraud. (I was charged tax on the purchase, as it was through a business, not private sale) I also mentioned that without my refund, I would turn to the forums...(I know none of this would result in a refund necessarily, but again...If you don't want to give me my refund, keeping my money better be really worth it, bc I'll get my money's worth one way or another

I gave this man multiple chances to provide me with the refund. It wasn't until I sent my nasty email, that I received a reply, saying he was on a "much needed vacation" and would return Jan 1st.

January 3rd, I sent another follow up for my refund...this time, I received a reply saying "we regret to inform you that the owner of skspartscanada.com is dealing with medical issues, and will reply to all concerns as soon as possible...that was a week ago.

Again, I'm not looking for sympathy. Buyer Beware etc etc etc....But if I'm not getting my money back, I'm certainly going to get my money's worth, and in turn, prevent this from happening to one of you.

So once again, DO NOT DEAL WITH TIM LABRECQUE @ SKSPARTSCANADA.COM....this isn't a reputable small business owner. As Tim stated, we're nothing but "viruses and retards"....spend your money elsewhere, inform anyone you know in the SKS world not to deal with this scumbag and con artist, and save yourself the experience I've had.

Cheers,

I've experienced this before, with other hobbies and interests I've invested in. Deflection, then excuses (Re: 'vacation') then the conveniently timed "sudden medical issue(s)". In the end, as you are finding out unfortunately, they are thieves and liars. I'm sorry for your experience, but thank you for the heads up.

EDIT: Just visited the website "Due to financial reasons we will be temporarily closed for restructuring."

Again, "financial reasons" and "restructuring". That's classic slang among scammers for "dine and dash".
I'm sure Tim, like many, will be back with another amateur website, under a different company name and mailing address/P.O. Box.

I have his personal address, and he knows this. As of January 6th, He and his wife's name, their personal address etc were reported to the CRA Tax Fraud Informant Line. I had a really good chat with the lady who took the call. She asked that I provide them additional information emails, payment proof, and the proof of return, so I'll be providing them with that as well. The RCMP will be notified today. I don't pretend to think anything will come of it, but I'm sure the RCMP would have a slightly higher interest in something like this since the business is firearm related. I figure if this is the way this person does "business", who knows if the firearms they have are illegal, stolen etc. are they following proper storage laws? the RCMP will have their address and info today. I also travel frequently for work, so being in B.C to pursue the matter in civil court isn't out of my mind either. Like I said, I can deal with never seeing my money again, but I'm going to have some fun with the situation :)

This makes me want to only buy via CC protection. Forget emt... the discount seems good, but asking for trouble as it's irreversible.

Also hit them with a strike on the BBB

You're not the first to "out" this guy on this forum. Someone had issues with SKSPARTSCANADA.COM - Tim Labrecque late last year and reported it on CGN to warn others as well. Hope you get your money back and he gets whats coming to him!

Sorry to hear, go get him/her! Fraud is fraud! This give on line purchasing a bad name! I had a similar thing happen with a sponsor here but was only a $25 item and I believe they are having problems internally!

That might have been me. I did post on the forum the pics of the rifle, and to ask what people thought I was dealing with. For what its worth, the SNs on the rifle were PR 2340. If anyone tries to sell it to you, or if its already been re-sold, you know what you're dealing with. He'll need to change all the parts with SNs or destroy/bury the sucker. I suppose reporting it stolen, rather than simply filing a complaint to RCP would be the better way to go. Regardless - Everyone be aware of the Serial Number, remember this guy's name and number, and be cautious and do your diligence with any new business on the Island or Lower Mainland. I had a lengthy chat with this guy on the phone to try and get a feel for him before purchasing - he even sent me additional photos I requested, so he certainly played the role of good guy. It was my own fault for not knowing more of the bayonet features. I even tried searching forums etc to find anyone making a complaint against the guy and "business". Will be sure to update on developments.

I considered what I had - all the features matched. The SNs matched, and yes, it had the spike bayo - of all the research I did, I didn't catch the 4 spike vs 3 spike etc. At that point, I could cut my losses knowing that my investment" wasn't worth it, nor could I honestly sell the rifle for 1949 SKS money, knowing the spike bayo was Chinese and not Russian. I could have tried selling it for 1949 SKS money,in effort to recoup my money and not mentioned the spike Chinese bayo, but that isn't how I roll.
