*** Warning *** Imperial Shot shells

Imperial High brass used to be the best you could get years ago..how is the new stuff?

I missed this on the first pass.

FWIW I noticed the shell casing was very robust compared to the Winchester Steel that I was shooting. I don't reload shotgun shells but I kept one just for comparison and it certainly appears to be of better quality IMO, both the brass and the plastic. The plastic seems thicker and does not have the little lines circling it that make it look like it is about to split like the Winchester HV stuff does. The brass was very clean and shiny too!

Why do people always seem to think you can't shoot a rifled slug through a full choke? That's why it's rifled so that they can compress down and fit through the choke. Yes the cylinder or improved cylinder is recommended because they usually offer better accuracy and as far as screw in chokes go I can see why a manufacturer would suggest the use of the more.open choices much like saying don't shoot.steel through a full choke .

I had the opposite happen to me opened my pack of rifled slugs I bought from CT and it was #8 target inside. I have a feeling that someone who works there swapped them out & maybe that was the plan with yours but you bought the box before they where finished.

Most likely cause of this. Employee theft is pretty common in retail and people are very good at hiding expensive items inside cheaper, for their own personal purchase.

Thanks, this is what I suspected.

But how safe is it to shoot rifled slugs from a shotgun that has an adjustable choke/polychoke?

Way back when I had a polychoke I just screwed it open to "cylinder" for slug use. i believe it was even marked as cyl/slug IIRC. NO possibility of choke damage then.
