WARNING: Stay away from Roni G1 Airsoft Copy

Thanks for the video... but what does that have to do with someone shooting a glock with a bunch of crap jammed in the muzzle?..... he lightly throws some sand on it... which he shakes off and lets it sit in water for a few seconds... which he shakes out of the gun.... Glocks are no doubt tough.... but you have to use them properly... throwing a bunch of airspft crap on them is dangerous.... and you are damn lucky you didn't lose an eye or something else with that ####ty plastic hardware wrapped around a firearm....

We're not talking about a uber-explosion of the airsoft copy... The plastic part blew open and hit me. Nothing like some shrapnels flying around at 5000m/s...

It felt more like an elastic band being thrown at your face...

Z you seem like a logical, methodical gun nut (love your elaborate posts, pictures and honesty in this thread).

BUT re read what you just said man!

No, it was not a catastrophic life ending explosion, but you used an item in a capacity it was never designed for and it broke and a piece hit you in the face.

It caused you enough concern to launch a thread telling all to stay away from these copies.

I have used my Roni extensively, so I know the ergonomics of it.

If that area had cracked instead of breaking, and if that crack spread under fire, and if the up and side force you were using on the vertical front grip helped that crack to sheer the front off, you have now just shot yourself in the thumb.

You guys saved a lousy $300 or so, is it really worth the (now documented, not make believe) risks?

Like Chris Berman says on Sunday NFL Countdown, COME ON MAN!

It could have been worse bud.... glad you are OK.... I just hope you learn your lesson is all....

A bit of perspective here.

More REAL Glock handguns have blown up than have airsoft Roni's on Glocks. If a single airsoft Roni failure is enough to condemn everyone using them then one wonders where the threads exorting everyone to stop using their Glock pistols due to a number of known failures are?

IMHO

I really feel that the issue was with the incorrect shroud in the OP,s failure..not due to the kit ...I think a real kit would have reacted the same , if you look at the pics I provided with the correct shroud all the gases and pressure will go out the shroud as intended. This kit is only and extension or add on to a completed firearm .The correct shroud enable the use of these kits .With the supplied imitation shroud more of these failures will occur as the gap around the shroud is too large..

Seriously, you're exactly right and that's why i've made a thread about it so people can be warned about the safety issue... That's why I own the original Roni G1 and i've told my friend to get rid of his airsoft copy and go buy a HERA Triarii instead! Actual real roni are around 499$ and a Hera Triarii worth around 469$... And I think it's way better built than a Roni... ;)

You know what, what you wrote made me thinking about a video I saw back in the days on youtube... A guy firing a Glock 17 modified (auto) with a vertical grip on the front...

WATCH AT THE END, WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU INSTALL A CHEAP PLASTIC VERTICAL GRIP ON A FIREARM:

Exactly what i'm thinking also... But the original shroud that Questar sales is for G34, which means it is shorter inside, because your frame is long enough. If you use a G17 with that shroud, it would fit incorrectly!

Actually, what owners of these "airsoft kits" should have an the shroud for the original Roni G1, so it fits G17...

Yeah you are correct. It's not like your head was blown off....This time.

You must have calculated well in advance what may potentially happen, in much the same way as your ingenious "strategy" to save a few bucks and buy airSOFT products for a FIREARM. Not to be a jerk, but if it makes a loud "bang" or "boom" and there is gun powder involved, probably a solid idea to buy parts that are intended for them exclusively.... I do not see why you keep defending such flawed logic.

Actually, you don't get it...

If you read the FIRST post of this topic, I wrote that i personnaly own a REAL Roni G1, so I know the difference between the real deal and the copy!

The airsoft copy was a "test" for a friend of mine who wanted to have a cheaper Roni because he didn't wanted to pay 499$ for the real deal.

No worries, by all means do what you like it's a free country. Just seems more like a segment on the Dudesons or Jackass then something one would want to try at home. Oh well, just my opinion. Keep experimenting Stevo!

Don't you understand the fundamentals of why I've created this thread?

I couldn't stay silent about that failure and let dozen of people who bought that same kit as me, use it in the shadow of a worst failure...

BAHhahahaha Laugh2: Sorry....but this had me near pi$$ing my pants

Thanks, most people don't really appreciate my attempts at humour. ;)

Seriously though, it's Ok for people to experiment even if sometimes it seems stupid. Occasionally using cheap s**t as a replacement for real gear works. In my experience it's usually more cost effective to buy good quality right from the start. Depends on the intended usage, of course.

Cheap crap that breaks the first time you use it isn't such a good deal after all.

A friend tried another airsoft stock (similar to the Roni but with a golfball dimple finish on many of the flat surfaces) this morning with his G22. In two shots the plastic housing around the muzzle was blown to pieces.

I just fired another 200 rounds out of mine today...its works great.
I have a different barrel shroud becuase I am using my Glock 34 in it.
The 34 has a longer barrel so I got a real Roni shroud for the 34 from Questar.
My Glock fits with more of the barrel inside the shroud so its containing the muzzle blast better .

As I mentioned in an earlier post , if the CORRECT shroud is used with these kits I dont forsee a problem with these.
The problem lies with the fake Roni shroud being too short and not covering enough of the muzzle .
