If we get rid of the handguns, then gangs won't be shooting up our streets, and there wouldn't be any reason for the law makers to go after legitimate sporting firearms.

Sir, if you continue to besmirch my firearm of choice I shall have to challenge you to a duel! (a duel of fisticuffs, naturally, as firearms should never be used on persons)
 
Handguns are designed for one thing only- Killing people. They serve no other purpose. Best ban them.

I would suggest that I have fired about 50,000 - 60, 000 pistol rounds in my life...and never killed anything or anyone. I have killed several animals and birds with long guns; therefore it makes sense to me to ban rifles and shotguns and leave the handguns alone.
 
You know, when people within our own community (the firearms community) call for a ban on a certain classification of firearms what hope do we have? Seriously?

To think that “they will leave us alone one the handguns are banned” is a fairy tale. “They” will never leave us alone, “they” want no one to own any guns of any sort and WE need to fight for the rights and freedoms of every firearms owner.

It’s truly disturbing that we are so fragmented; you would think that the one thing we could all agree on would be gun owner’s rights.

I am totally baffled that someone who owns and enjoys firearms could support a ban on any type of firearm. Wow.
 
Handguns and military style weapons are simply not needed. Only military and police should have them, and the sooner they are banned from civilian hands, the sooner our streets will be safe.

Since when did "need" become an issue? Plasma TV's are terrible for energy consumption and are not needed......why not ban them? McDonalds food is poison and it's making our youth fat and lazy, ban fast food too?

Banning anything from dog breeds to guns is an erosion of our freedom and should be opposed!

How is keeping handguns owners from going to the range on Saturday morning going to make our streets safer?

Newsflash......it's 2008 and the supermarkets are full of meat. We don't "need" to hunt anymore than we "need" to target shoot. They are both legitimate and interesting hobbies that require lots of practice and dedication. How in the name of all that is sacred is taking handguns from target shooters going to make our streets safer?
 
The worst thing I ever heard at the range was from an old hunter fellow, who did not seem to care about the red and green flag rules, ear protection, etc - he paid his daily pass and he was there to sight in, so that was his right to do what he wanted, not a privilege... Long story short, he said: 'I am old and going to retire from hunting soon, so I don't really care if government is going to confiscate our guns' - it's too late and there is not much we can do anyway.:puke:

Ive never owned a plasma TV, so I will take your word on the energy consumption, and if so, we shoudl ban them, as there are better alternatives. Fast food should be banned as well, for the reasons you stated.

Dangerous dog breeds should be restricted from residental areas. Noone needs these vicious dogs.

Every gun used in a crime started as a legal gun. If we ban handguns, the gangs can't get to them.

Too much fat, medications etc in supermarket meat. Wild meat is the best source of quality meat.

Handguns have no legitimate purpose. Banning them woudl save lives, and if it saves one life, it's worth it.

It's for the children...
