Was asked about Go to gun..surprised everyone

Burnt45 has one!! It's a 1940 LB #5 ... all mint and in that waxed paper !! :runaway:

This must be a typo for 1944, or 45. The No4 wasn't put into production until 1941, anywhere. There was some trials rifles in Britian, but full scale production, no. Now it could be one of the recievers made while they were setting up the LB factory, but it would be marked differently. Plus, they didn't have the design for the No5 until 42-43.

I am going from memory as, I am at work, but I can cheak my Enfield bible when I get home.

For my go-to, it seems that whenever I am going somewhere 70% of the time I grab my No4; 20% of the time I grab my No5; 5% my M1917 and 5% my shotgun. Because I usually take a .303, I just keep a bandolier of 50 rds in the jeep.

Could someone please post close up and full length photos of Long Branch No5 examples, in and out of wrap? If these things exist, then they should be documented for future owners.

Just to clear up any confusion, I originally posted the above photo in jest, it's a photoshop. I had no idea LB No5's actually existed!!!

Someone should be able to track them down. Gadget may know who got what. I have a question for historians...could someone at LB just put the stocks on them and the rest of the rifle brought in?

I got a message saying that those crates were full of No4's but another saying they were indeed No5's but may only have been sent there for patterning and were left stored...so...jurys out

The Jury was in before he admitted to a photo shop job.

Trying your attention whoring in the one forum that probably has better sources than you. Smooth.

thats why I have been pretty open about who and what. PM Gadget and ask him about where those rifles came from. I got 2 PM's that say that they were No4's in the wraps. It's funny as I thought that they were for years but then Nick on Yonge street had 5 mint ones wrapped in wax (No5's) said came from those.

I don't know all the parts to it but would like to be refreshed as to what they were are from where....probably 1999 era or a little earlier.

I will take one this i have to see no where is it writen that we where making them other them one modded [lightened] NO4 that shows up once and awhile.

to as the guy from Yonge Street that got closed down after the fire....he has 5 of them still. Wax paper intact. I can find you a number for him.

back in the 90's when they brought in the crates of Long Branch JC's that were found in the old subbasement during the tear down....it was a sight to behold. NIB (well brown wax paper) wood was so bright it was nearly white.

You sounded pretty sure you'd seen them up until Vimy came clean.
:p

Vimy was just playing with Windows Paint and changed 4 to 5. A little bit of mischief...:p

As for a Long Branch Jungle Carbine: A gent I know tells me he just got one and I have a good chance of having my mitts on it within the week. (not to own it, just to look at it :( )

I do not believe it's marked No 5. It would be very much a Long Branch experimental.

If I do get to see it I will take and post good pics of it.
