Went back into the semi world today a bought a Volquartsen Deluxe! The comp will be removed and capped which makes me happy because I hate the Volquartsen comps. Went with the McMillian sporter stock like below  to Clay at Prophet River for helping me import it.

I've been spending money like a teenage Arab lately :)
I think this will be fairly fun come gopher season.

I will have to do an accuracy comparison with my Cooper and see if a semi auto can keep up with the bolt action's

Be sure to wear safety glasses, the 17 rimfires have been known to rupture a case now and then when used in semi autos.

I have read this but the Volquartsen's seem to be the only semi auto .17 HMR on the market that haven't had this problem.
I guess that's why they are $1800 as opposed to the $300 Remington's that have the case rupture problem.

Magnum Research didn't make $300 guns, but they discontinued theirs.I actually had a 17Mach2 conversion for my 10/22,and I sold it for that reason. But on the positive side,I haven't heard of a failure with the Volquartsen.

True, I totally forgot about Magnum Research. I did some asking around on RFC about VQ .17 HMR reliability and got all positive reviews, so, I took the plunge :D

I have the 17 Mach 2 conversion kit from Eabco for my 10/22 and it works great. I have put at least 3k worth of ammo through it without any ruptures.

It makes gopher shooting really fun. I mean really fun!!! Only issue is mag capacity. I figured when I bought it that I would be able to use 25 round mags but the neck on the mach 2 shell is too sloped for it to feed consistently. It is unfortunate but even with 10 round mags it works nicely and extends the range to about 130 yards.

Thats looks awesome, hope it shoots well. From what I understand they don't make junk I imagine it's a high quality piece.

TOTALLY JEALOUS! I am probably one of the biggest .17 HMR wh*res around and absolutely would do anything to get my hands on one of these. Please tell me how it shoots and if it is comparable to a bolt HMR.

Very nice. Talk to Clay about 17 Rem Fireball.;) I picked up a Cooper from him and it's a fun round to shoot. Cheap to reload also.

I would love to get into centerfires but I have no place to shoot them (well at the range I guess but that is boring) :)

I will definatly do a post this summer compairing the semi and my bolt. Stay tuned.....

Good to see you finally made the jump and bought one!!!! Welcome to the VQ dark side. I love my 22LR, It always get the most attention from others at the range no matter what else I bring from my toy box. The trigger is a dream. Have gone through several thousand rounds so far, only issue is it does not like federal gold match and I've got 4 bricks of it!!
