We need to make up a 'Canadian' rifle

Hmmm.. that sounds good... the Kanucknikov Kudatah, or KK type 16 (for the year of manufacture).

I think out of all suggestions there is really only two that are actually true CANADIAN rifles. I Think it comes down to a Ross or a garand, not some English or Swedish in a European chambering. I thought this was a Canadian rifle, not a UN rifle?

How about we gather up all the parts and pieces we need to build it from other countries and call it the "REFUGEE"...that sounds pretty Canadian. We might even get some Government funding, and we would never have to worry about the Liberals ever banning it.

Seeing as how Savage still has a manufacturing footprint in Canada, I'm thinking the winner would be a savage 10 scout chambered in .303 Brit. Barring that, a Ruger gun site in the same cal.

How about a Ruger N0. 1A in a 303 british, now wouldn't that be novel. lol

Nah...already been done lol. Seriously though, The no1 would make a lot of people go no.2 once they see the price tag lol.

True enough, and to think that H&R could'a done it in the Handi Rifle for a couple hundred bucks lets one know that the mainstream shooters in the US & hence, their manufacturers, have limited interest in foreign chamberings.:(

^ I think I own one of those.

Economy is telling me to move back to BC anyways

The Albertan, same thing in blued, and inside a truck.

The "British Columbian",

-Stainless
-Repeater
-Synthetic stock
-Under 7lbs
-Chambering faster than 3,000fps

I thought the "British Columbian" was a savage with a package scope, lots of dents on the underside of the forearm from truck window sills, and a worn butt pad from dirty floor mats.

In this day and age, if we had a Canadian rifle maker, the company would probably shift production or sell out to the U.S.
Darn near everything else seems to go that way.

the Stevens trapper , 13"short barrelled 22 mag was made just for us
I like the idea of a NR short rifle 12"or 14 " barrel fore hunting ,packing in the bush sumthing like 338fed

Replace savage axis with "enfield sporter" for northern BC.

I would be there with you. I'm starting to think for really short barrels pistol calibers may be the answer, there is nowhere to go but up for them.

Massive sticker shock at the TC encore though. And 16 inch 454 casull rossis are nowhere to be found...

Or be forced to leave due to Canadian government over-regulation.

They're less effective, shorter range, and fun. :) But they really do not do anything better, as there is no such thing as brush busting and a .30-06 will make any pistol chambering, right up to the bruisers, look more than severely limited. There also isn't a thing a handgun round kills better than a .30-06 will. You'll find handgun chambered carbines in the hands of casual hunters, and good for them it's an interesting challenge, but you'll seldom find them tasked by the hunting addicts for fair reasons. Better, well better in no dimension really, but interesting. My small change! :) Coming from a guy who traded his .243 for a Marlin .357 ten years ago. I should have kept the .243 as advised.
