From now , Bernier is the only way for the win .
This or several other things could happen. Terrorist attack, Trump trade war, legalization of marijuana issues, are 3 other things off the top of my head that could cause issues for the liberals... we are in turbulent times and I'm not sure Justin will do as well when tested with a serious issue. A lot can happen in two years in this new fast paced world we live in.
Got my ballot in the mail today. Vinny Qc, ya gotta lose this poor victim act, we're broke too.
Throw the glue bag in the garbage.
That stuff will damage your brain.
Bernier is a non starter west of quebec.
Looks like trudeau will be parking his suitcase at 24 sussex drive after 2019.
There's gonna be a lot of gun owners voting against bernier because he is quebecois. A lot of people who would otherwise agree with him on policies will vote against him becuase "he's just another frog and we don't want another one".
Big time , and the west has pumped 400 billion in equalization payments to Quebec over the years so you are hardly victimized or second class.
I don't think that and I'm in Alberta. Also more on topic , a few people in my area are starting to talk about Bernier positively, I think he could catch on more than people think out here in the west. I could be wrong but people are talking.
Alberta's opinion of the next PC leader doesn't matter. At most, there's 5 ridings to win in alberta for the next election.
Ontario is where elections are won or lost. No matter who the next PC leader is, he would still have lost the last election even if he had taken all of alberta (Harper lost only 5) and all 30 of the 40 liberals from quebec. On the other hand, take 3 out of 5 from alberta, and half the 80 liberals from Ontario, and you've got a narrow minority.
The only realistic way to win for the cons is some gains in atlantic (where they have 0 seats), major advances in ontario, and keep what they have in Quebec and west of ontario. In order to do that, the PC needs a candidate who's liked in ontario, and that's not a quebecois, and that's certainly not maxime bernier.
And that's not 400 billions, that 400 gazilion millions trilions in eq payments. Plus a bushel of wheat.
This is admittedly somewhat anecdotal, but in Vancouver, I detect no anti-French or anti-Québécois sentiment. In fact, Anglophones can't seem to get enough French. The demand for French immersion programs is massive. The wait lists are huge. And the programs are very French-Canadian. In most schools there's a student trip to Quebec every year...and then the kids from Quebec come here in exchange. I can honestly say that I've never once heard a parent or adult say negative things about Quebecers. Seriously...
