We need to support Maxime Bernier

I was already leaning his way based
On his fiscal announcements.
I wish O'Leary wasn't here to muddy
the water though.
I think if any PC of this group has a chance in hell
of getting a seat in La Belle Province it's this guy.

Thank you for the links Farmboy.

P.S. O'Leary doesn't stand a chance. Too many shallow
know nothings vote for hair.
We must fight hair with hair. It's not right, just saying.

Dontated after following OP links....however seeing this i would have donated as well...."Fight hair with hair" lol

You all realize he's a..."Conservative?"...Brrr, gave me shivers just typing it. How quick we forget the mess those a$$hats made of Canada.

He's a seasoned politician and well versed in "politics.' He fully knows the size of the demographic for firearms owners and he's simply looking for votes.
Vote 'im in and an watch his tune change afterwards...Politics is synonymous with lying, and this guy is as real a politician as you can find. Suckled on Harper's teet for long enough.

(And No, I'm not a fekin Liberal loving hippy either!! )

Harper would not sign the UN small Arms Treaty, Trudeau did.

As for Bernier.... I wonder if like O'leary - he says what he says to appeal to his voting masses, or does he honestly believe it deep down. Unfortunately, politics is politics. I'm not holding my breath for any of 'em.

Bernier is pretty out in left field if he thinks the voting mass wants spending cuts, and people running around with ar15s w/ 30rd magazines.

That, or my fringe beliefs are going mainstream.

Well, ya, that's the problem isn't it. I like much of what Bernier is saying, but I don't know that this will translate into votes across the nation. Indeed, the polling so far doesn't indicate that he's the guy to beat Trudeau. Then again, O'Leary could be a disaster once the mud-slinging starts in 2019. After all, there's no shortage of video clips and sound-bytes of him spouting off.
My #1 priority is sending Justin back to his trust-fund-brat life. "Who has the best chance?" is the most important question for me.

I've never joined a political party before, but I joined the PC just so I could vote for Bernier. If you read his platform, he is the best choice for this country, and for getting us reasonable gun laws in place (removing the shi**y ones too). I was swooned briefly by the "celebrity" status of O'Leary until I read what he stands for, he is bad bad bad for us, he is basically a liberal running for the PC party, dont be fooled, he would be just as bad as the boy wonder in regards to firearms, and worse in some instances.

Quite a few folks were banned from the NFA page today for asking a simple question on their CPC grading of the candidates... of O'toole thinks aligning himself with CLAIR will win him something he's either a fool or someone on his staff needs to be fired. After this nonsense O'toole is off my ballot. Team Max all the way!!

People need to remember the PM is more of a mascot than anything..... Its the party behind them that makes the REAL decisions..... that being said, what the PM mentions will most certainly be heard and addressed by the party sooo if the PM were to say "hey our current firearm control system is ridiculous and needs to be loosened up and simplified" the party is certainly going to take note.

I'm not sure this is the right choice. We have to look at who could win over Trudeau, Can Maxime beat Trudeau? I'm thinking O'Leary is a more appealing candidate.

It saddens me that the current options of politicians are so poor that yet another loudmouthed television personality gains any traction.

Although I like Blaney, who's actually had a positive influence, and O'Toole, who's platform I support, I can't see either carrying the potential weight that the polls suggest Maxime does.

I have not traditionally support many Quebecers, this may well good strategy this go around in Federal/Eastern politics. What the option? Another talking head from Ottawa?

We need someone intelligent and focused, not abrasive. We also need a majority government to get $h!t done and reverse the disaster from T2. I find her abrasive and I support her policies and I'm a party member. What do you think the response from the general public will be? Trump is abrasive and loud which is why he's had so much trouble getting things done now. He's had some good ideas but he's his own worst enemy because he speaks before considering how it will be perceived.

A big reason that the CPC and NDP lost so bad last election was because while Harper and Mulcair were fighting it out about nicabs Justin was busy being likeable. The liberal party policies are a disaster but most voters pick a candidate based on a good feeling rather than a solid plan. We need a leader with a great team and a great platform but who is still able to be likeable. Is it stupid? Absolutely. Is necessary? Yes. I want Lietch in the background but I seriously hope she can stay behind the scenes. Otherwise the left wing media will eat the CPC alive and social justice Justin will run amok another 4 years.

Probably one of the best and smartest posts I have read in a while. Thank you. I fully agree.

My thoughts are similar. Winning is #1. However, I really don't know how much O'Leary will appeal to Canadians. The polls seem to suggest he's almost on par with SJW Justin, but who knows by 2019.
He is good at focusing in on the economy, taxes and jobs instead of the "social issues" quagmire though.
I just don't know at this point...

Back to the firearms related topic, however, I am not sure that the platform that Maxime has presented is really beneficial to firearms owners in the long run. "Firearms should be classified to their intrinsic characteristics" Im paraphrasing here, but think of the long term implications: If all semi auto firearms are lumped together, then the next - and there will be a next- liberal to come to power basically puts a picture of an AK, an AR and a child soldier up together, and proposes to 'make our streets safer' by banning/restricting/prohibiting 'this class' of weapons: and there we are; hoist on our own petard. No more 10/22s, no more A5s, no BARs... and certainly no AR15s. As much as I hate it, and it rankles to know, having a scapegoat in the AR15 for the liberal media WITHOUT having all semiauto firearms lumped into one group is probably the best thing for canadian firearm owners. The regulatory mess that is current canadian law actually, in a strange way, keeps our liberties safer. An organized government is truly a frightening thing, to my mind.
