I’d suggest contacting Ruger and ask if it’s normal wear from test firing. Additionally you could call the CFC and has if this pistol was previously transferred to someone else. Ive done once and it worked.

That's what I thought. I actually checked at Bashaw Sports, a local dealer here and their display model is perfect. They even showed me one from stock and it was perfect. I've bought used firearms with a few hundred rounds down the tube that had less wear. I think I'm just done dealing with The Ammo Source.

Me and my wife just had an identity theft situation happen on Wednesday so we've been trying to deal with that this week. I just needed a win, I thought that my new pistol would be that win but was mistaken.

Finally heard back from Ruger. They said it looks as if it's been used and told me it was shipped from them in March, 2016 to the retailer. I called the CFO and there were no other owners besides me and The Ammo Source. So I'm guessing it was a demo or range day gun at some point during the 3 years it was there. Kind of blows when you can't trust firearm retailers.

Yep , it certainly sounds like the gun was a 3 year old store demo ; but I guess only the store knows for sure . If you paid by credit card , you might be able to do some type of charge back .

Was it full price or a good sale price?, If regular price send it back and buy from local guys, If they will take it back.
Mind you in a few months , it will not matter, if it works, and you put a bunch of ammo thru it.
3 yrs from factory to a retail sale is not out of line, time wise. Would be in the US, but not in Ca.

I too received a "less than new" item from them once. I haven't purchased anything there since and don't intend to in the future.

Have you contacted them? I have found them to be more than helpful.

Yes, I contacted them minutes after it arrived. They blamed the factory and the factory blamed them. Days after I received mine they even put the other 3 they had in stock on demo clearance so if I had waited a week to order I could've save about $100 and got the same used gun.

Honestly not the first time I've had problems with them and lying about firearm condition. I bought a used M&P45 from them about a year ago, it said "excellent condition, appears to be unfired.". But when I got it it looked like it had thousands of rounds through it, was so gunked up with dirt & grime that I had to spend half an hour completely stripping and cleaning it. You could tell they probably never even took a good look at it before selling it.

Soooo..... you didn't learn your lesson, slow learner I guess.

Sorry, couldn't resist :)

Send the damn thing back for a full refund, it's used.

I did learn a lesson the first time, I've never purchased another used firearm from them. I just thought that there's no way to go wrong on a new unit. Now I learned that lesson to.

I emailed them about that, waiting to hear back.

well they sure have A LOT of "demo" fire arms for sale on their Web site...............
do they have a range for people to try them ?
I dont care, I would buy a Demo,....as long as it was sold as such.

That's the problem, it wasn't and SFRC isn't going to do anything about it.

I learned my lesson the hard way, hopefully others read this thread and learn from our mistakes.

Buyer beware!

In Canada we buy from a distributor, not directly from Ruger. Ruger would have no idea when it was transferred to our inventory. That gun was transferred to our inventory from the Ruger distributor on June 8/19. As we told you we see dirty guns all the time from Ruger. We also see dirty guns from test firing all the time from Savage and S&W. We get this call multiple times a week and we always explain it the same. You did get 15% off of it and we offered to bump it up to 18% because it was dirty from the the factory.

As I explained to you in my second email and as you can see in the last (but kind of blurry) picture posted compared to the other picture of the top of the barrel, it isn't dirt. The marks on the outside of the barrel are wear marks in the matte finish and they just look blackish because of the lighting, the chamber is dirty but the outside is clean. I don't know how much it was fired but it's definitely been at least cycled a lot. I looked at 2 different Ruger Americans in 45 acp at Bashaw Sports about 45 mins away from me and they both looked perfect, no wear marks at all.

Ruger said it was shipped from them in March 2016 so I assumed that meant to the retailer but maybe they ship it from manufacturing to distribution and count that as their ship date?

I ordered during a 15% off sale, but I ordered a new gun during a 15% off sale. If I would have waited a week and actually ordered a demo unit that I was expecting to have wear I could have saved over $100 with the used discount and fall promotion. So when I asked for a return and got told all I could have $15 back I didn't exactly jump for joy. I'm not a super picky person, I actually prefer to buy used but when I pay for new I do expect it to show as new and I've had handguns with a few hundred rounds through them that had less wear on the barrel.

Maybe Ruger is bullcrapping me or maybe your distributer used it as a sales example. I don't know because every person I talk to points their finger at someone else.
