Weatherby Fan's

Umm, actually, his rifles are quite well built. And most are built by one of the most talented smiths we have left.
Weatherby is hit and miss. Misshappen, not overly accurate and heavy. Lots of hype and they define clunky quite well.
We are all happy you and pops like them so much.

I'm Sure that his rifles are quite well built but their still ugly as sin...

I Dont know where people like yourself get off on saying weatherby's are'nt accurate...I'd put my 300wby and 240 Wby mag(Which weighs 6.5 pounds;)) up against any of your 24\30 cal rifles at the range for Accuracy.

The Weatherby Rifles are far from being clunky...it's all in your head

And the best gunsmiths in the world are europeans, like Ralph Martini.

My 240wby and 300wsm Sako Bavarian are tight...but I promise you that my German made 300 wby shooting 180 Grain nosler's is Even Tighter.

This one was so ugly that it's in for the stock pictured below it hideous thing that it is. By the way, you are looking at a ton of craftsmanship in that top photo.

Yes the hand checking is exceptional, along with the shadow-line cheek piece. The grains of synthetic flow evenly from its petrolum bi-product. The graceful linesof the classic style stock are within .00001 of an inch from one end to the other. Injection molded craftsmanship at its finest! If you call that beauty I can imagine what she looks like. A Martin Hagn does not stand up to that what so ever. Where do I get a peace of that piece of plastic?

There is no injection molding there, and the mold did not fall from the sky. Somebody had to whittle that stock and checker it. No machine did that and no machine could.

OOOOOOKKKKKK I was born yesterday. Yes I can see that the whittle markings within the checkering patterm. Must of been performed by a Master Gun Craftsman, similar to Martin Hagns work of art. The similarity is remarkable. Is that a McMillian?

I held the blank in hands before it went to McMillan and it was "whittled" by one of the most premier stock makers in the world. Ask Ralph Martini. He won't disagree.

Says who? You?

Gunsmiths in many european countries require 4 years Gunsmithing education of University level prior to becomming a gunsmith/gunmaker. Which includes working for a manufacture or to become a proprietary gunmaker. Gun manufactures in America hire people with no such education. Hence the results.

European Firarms

Purdy
Holland and Holland
John Rigby
Mauser
Blaser
Merkel
Sauer
Sako
Heym
William Evens
Steyr Mannlicher
Beretta, and the list go's on

North American (American)

Remington
Ruger
Winchester
Browning
H&R
Rossi
T/C
NEF
Mossberg
Marlin

Dare you compare that Americans make better firearms than European?

Dollar for dollar? Absolutely! Hand me a Cooper over a Sako 75 any day of the week.

Ditto for a dollar-to-dollar comparison with Kimber, or Dakota, or A-Square - I'll take the American gun over the euro counterpart in a heartbeat

I Give Cooper alot of credit and really like there product...However Dollar wise coopers on the average cost more than a sako.Very close, but coopers are more money...Espicially when you start getting into the Custom classic Models!...Beuatiful Firearms

Well since this Weatherby thread has gone to Chit, maybe we can just start discussing the fine points of american and european Firearms. There are Great Firearms being made on both sides of the pond....I think we all need to Lay down our "arms" until hunting season starts in a month and abit!!!!.....

Call Ralph. He'll know.

Here he is working on a Hagn single shot of all things.

As I asked before, what is his name if he is a premier world stock maker?. If he is so well known you must know his name. This guy builds from scratch custom synthetic stocks? I've been to Martin Hagn's shop several times I know what his action looks like and know that he a world master gunmaker, However I don't know the guy you are taling about.

You miss so much.

His name is D'Arcy Echols.

Never heard of him. Is he in the American Gunmakers Guild as Martin Hagn is?

He is not a guild member no. Some if not many of the best are not. For obvious reasons.

He is considered by some that should know to be in the top five stock makers in the world. Some of them would put him on a short list of one. Many two. If you do not believe me give Martin or Ralph a call and ask them if he is any good.

Weren't we talking about the craftsmanship of Weatherby's? To put Ralph in that category is pretty insulting. To Ralph.
