Weatherby Fan's

He is not a guild member no. Some if not many of the best are not. For obvious reasons.

He is considered by some that should know to be in the top five stock makers in the world. Some of them would put him on a short list of one. Many two. If you do not believe me give Martin or Ralph a call and ask them if he is any good.

Weren't we talking about the craftsmanship of Weatherby's? To put Ralph in that category is pretty insulting. To Ralph.

Whoa...easy Chuck.

When you actually have an Echols stocked rifle then by all means brag it up. What you have is a cheap representation of an Echols stocked rifle.

It's like someone hanging a "print" of the Mona Lisa on their wall and then boasting to all about owning a masterpiece. Whatever strokes your ego:jerkit:

My owning a wood stocked Echols rifle does not make any better or worse at what he does.

My point is the world is a lot bigger than Weatherby.

Nice Looking Collection of horsemen.
Own 2 weatherby cals.
378 WM mark5 delux w KDF Brake ( Considering selling the 378)
Mid 80's Vanguard 270 WM main hunting rifle.
Very accurate hunting rifles. both under 1" @ 100

I'm Sure that his rifles are quite well built but their still ugly as sin...

I Dont know where people like yourself get off on saying weatherby's are'nt accurate...I'd put my 300wby and 240 Wby mag(Which weighs 6.5 pounds;)) up against any of your 24\30 cal rifles at the range for Accuracy.

The Weatherby Rifles are far from being clunky...it's all in your head

And the best gunsmiths in the world are europeans, like Ralph Martini.

My 240wby and 300wsm Sako Bavarian are tight...but I promise you that my German made 300 wby shooting 180 Grain nosler's is Even Tighter.

Sure Weatherby gets it right by chance every once and awhile. Up the ante and put a better guarantee than 1.5 MOA on all of them. Actually a common complaint is that Weatherby rifles are "clunky". Swings and handles like a 2x10. There are a few exceptions such as the standard actioned UL's. Ugly lines still, and Europeans in general hate the tacky look of the Weatherby, so does that make it true?

And I wouldn't make that bet, I can shoot as your dad has seen, and my pet rifle puts 5 TTSX's into less the .4's. 3 averages in the low .3's and will dip into the .2's frequently enough I need not complain. It shoots SST's even better. Ask Rick F. It cost less than your Lasermark, and was built by Bill Leeper.

Never heard of him. Is he in the American Gunmakers Guild as Martin Hagn is?

You and your boy need to put a little more fact behind your statements, and use some tact in retorting so it seems less like kicking sand in the box. Some people do have respect for you.
And I would bet that more people in the industry world round have heard of D'arcy Echols than Ralph. Part of the reason I could afford and get a stocked rifle from Ralph by this time next year and I'd be lucky to get a Legend from D'arcy buy this time twoi years from now.
BTW McMillians, Browns, Bansner, Rimrock, etc, are hand laid, not injection molded, and can be hand checkered and worked like Chuck says.

The European snobbery is also a little silly; Echols, Fisher, Beisen, Miller, these men have built rifles to rival the prettiest euro, and all on Mausers too.

Enjoy your Weatherby.

I do not know how this compares to the fit of the mark V, but I find the stock design to be such a good fit for me on the Vanguard that it just shoulders perfectly and puts your eye naturally in line with the scope while reducing recoil like no other rifle I own. My father and uncle both felt the same way, when they selected their rifles strictly by how they felt when shouldering them in the store. They both bought Vanguards.

There's something to be said for that.

I do shoot and own a lot of different rifles but I hope someday to own a mark v.

Enjoy your Weatherby.

We enjoy or Weatherbys, Blasers, Merkel, Coopers, Martini and Hagn (custom), Rocky Mountain Rifles(custom), Krico, Sako. We will enjoy our noted above firearms for years and continue to hunt and kill big trophy animals. BTW I just ordered a new Sauer, great european gun!!! Plan on killing a big whitetail with it this year. Give me your email and I will personally send you some pics.

I don't think there is a single rifle company that has made more garish, gaudy, butt ugly rifles than Weatherby....

Even the ones with nice wood get gussied up to the point where they are a real eye sore. :)

I do Every Fall......

I like my Weatherby Rifles, just like how I like my Whitetail Bucks.....HEAVY ;)

That sofa remind me of watching the Beach Combers pulling up to great drift logs in 1970s on CBC.
I don't think Relic's jetboat would be able to tow those around.:)
Nice racks man. Are they all Alta Deer? Sask maybe?
Either one of those would be a once in a lifetime rack on our Eastern Whitetails, if I could ever find one!

weatherby's

Gatehouse if you don't like that is fine but don't dish what many value as a keeper in their gun case, each to his own. your garbage may be my gold.dead is dead once hit out of any gun...

Heck, I don't care what the other guy finds pretty or what he finds to be his favorite style of rifle, action, stock material, stock design, scope or whatever....Each to his own is fine by me.:)

.But since this forum is about expressing opinions, I'll share mine: My opinion of Weatherby rifles is that there is a large percentage of them that are tacky and gaudy looking:p

Fair enough, you've expressed your opinion. Now isn't there a .375Ruger thread somewhere that could benefit from your wisdom.

I'll take pics of everything but the Weatherby's and the RMR stuff.
Personally I am a fan of most of the rest as they have individual characteristics that are subtle and yet not.
Sauers are very nice. Which model and grade did you go with. And in 6.5x68 I hope;)

I know you work as a banker, but to twist things around like a lawyer from one personal quotes to another. BTW, I think that the names Roy and Ed Weatherby are more world known than USA Presidents let alone other gun makers. Be "honest" with yourself, and STOP twisting the story.

If I kill a big whitetail with it this year I will send you some pics................just need your e-mail. We can have a little trivial game by "guess which gun it is in the pic?" You give me the impression that you( I know who are) have years of experience with various firearms and big game hunting, therefore you probably would know which cartridge it is chambered for. Yes european gun "manufactures" produce better quality firearms than American gun "manufactures". Lets be on the same page here, not "custom" gunmakers. Don't twist things around like your counterpart Chuck. You have to be more open minded and show no favouritism, or loyality to american gun "manufactures".
