Of course the 300 Wby is not the 300 or 375 H&H... but the 300 Wby is BASED on the H&H case therefore it has the belt. As I mentioned, the 375 H&H is the grandfather of almost every belted magnum there is. Roy Weatherby simply blew out the shoulders and case walls of a 300 H&H case to make the 300 Wby.
I'm not certain why you think Wby added extra headspace at the case shoulder because he did not. Any case will have some space at the shoulder if your chamber is a bit oversize or you are resizing your brass too much by bumping the shoulder back further than it needs to be. In that case you will get a lot of case stretch but with proper resizing you shouldn't.

It's easy to badmouth just about anything but I'd like to derail the Weatherby topic for a moment in an attempt to put this into perspective.

The 375 H&H was invented in 1912.
The Model T Ford was invented just 4 years earlier in 1908 and was produced until 1927.
1912 was also the year that the Titanic sank.
The US commissioned their first submarine in 1912.
An airplane managed to fly over 100 mph in 1912.

All of these cutting edge technological break throughs have long since been rendered obsolete but the 375 H&H is still in production. This cartridge is also listed in many African countries as the minimum cartridge power wise for hunting dangerous game, that's how good it is! Is it efficient....no, are there better cartridges out there... yes.
It's easy to bash this cartridge but given it's age and the technology that was available when it was invented, it's a darn good cartridge despite all it's faults.

300 weatherby and other belted magnums headspace gauges only measure the belt not the shoulder, meaning they headspace on the belt

I have owned a Japanese MKV Fibermark in both 257wby, and 300wby, and three Vanguards ,two in 7mmremmag and one on 243win. The Vanguards were more accurate , at less than half the cost.

Once again, if you are hand loading you are using the shoulder. Hoping some here get that. Hey if you like Vanguards better buy Vanguards. All good.

If your brass is sized properly then this will be the case. The belt was only really necessary on the original H&H cases with their long tapered cases.
