Weatherby Vanguard Series 2 sale 43% off

I found a 270 in store! Also, according to the counter guys (so take with a truckload of salt) they are getting sold off because no one wanted anything to do with that stock at the original price. Notice the same gun with the kryptec pattern isn't on sale? That's because it actually looks like something a sane human would buy at $700.00

$399, is it really that good of a deal, $150 off? Cabela's sells the same gun for $549 when it's not on sale. WSS's list price is $699.

$549 plus tax is still more than $399 plus tax.
'My math tells me the $399 gun is a better deal .
That is of course I could get it in the caliber offered and could stand the color scheme they are painted.
For the Win $149.00 that doesnt have to go into the stores cash register.

Yeah, $149 is $149 but to me it's not a lot of money. But, WSS makes it sound like you're getting a really good deal at $300 off the regular price. Was it marked up before the sale?

To my way of thinking its a good deal and thats why I went for it regardless of the sceptics.
As for the stock pattern its no biggie, easily solved with a can of Krylon and best of all mine is easily sub-MOA with break-in loads...

My one cost $468.oo to come to my door. That's a good deal on a rifle that is properly built & with better standard features than any other "budget" rifle currently being sold these days. Vanguard's rank at the top in surveys & reviews on affordable hunting rifles because of the Weatherby ethic of make 'em good, and accurate.

As for the funky paint job on the Blaze version as previously mentioned, it's so dang easy to put on a coat of Krylon Fusion paint in satin Hunter Green if ye desire. Me, I'm gonna leave my one as is for this season at least.
;)

I can already envision all the $500+ Vanguards in the EE, with the value added "custom" painted stocks ;)

It has a great and practical looking finish, as far as I'm concerned. Hard to loose it, and chances of it being stolden are next to nill.

That is the reason I was told for the sale as well.

My recent Vangard story.....

Didn't go for this $399 deal as I recently fished an "as new" regular synthetic stock version Vangard 2 in .243 Win that had been on consignment at the LGS. I happened to be in there when, after it had sat on the rack for a couple weeks with lookers but no takers, the rifle's owner advised the shop owner to "reduce it by another $100".

It came with an as new Leupold VX2 3-9x40mm with LR reticle mounted in Tally's. If you figured the cost of those, then the rifle was literally a steal, especially with another $100 taken off. Didn't really "need" another .243 Win but it was too good a deal to pass up at that point.

So it goes with us "gun guys" sometimes, though, eh? :p
