Shooting many shots is not the reason that I prefer to float the barrel on a hunting rifle. Having a consistent point of impact under varying temperature and humidity is what appeals to me most, and a quality stock, proper bedding, along with a floated barrel , have provided me with the most consistent point of impact. I have found that even though rifles with a pressure point can provide good accuracy, the pressure at the pressure point can change with temperature or humidity, and the point of impact often changes as a result.
