So I found myself with a Webley Mark 1 revolver.
Cool pistol IMO, it’s cut for 45ACP and 625 moon clips fit.
So as an IPSC shooter who used to shoot a 625 I figured it might be fun to shoot a match (in major) with something that isn’t a firearm...
So I bought a holster the web said was best (it wasn’t) and had a holster from another but nothing was worthy for match use.
Thought I could modify a WSM II, that was a bust...
So in my search I watched a YouTube on moulding Kydex at home (and another and another...).
Amazon had sheets in grey for $15 (delivered IIRC) and Walmart had cheap foam sheets for yoga, so never letting fear or common sense to hold me back I added everything to the cart, checked out and figured the worst I could do would be to burn down my house, lol.
For a first attempt I’m stoked.
Works great, feels solid, has excellent retention and draws quick.
What more could I want, I’m a happy camper. Just have to come up with the moon clip holders, practice a bit and off to find a match:)

What kind of "loading recipes" do you figure on?... :cheers:
 
Not sure yet but got lots of options on hand.
One of my guns came with a bullet mould and a bunch of recipes on a thumb drive I have yet to look over...
Currently I have most popular powders (except Trail Boss) and have plated 185 and 230 .451” bullets, 230 hard cast lead in .451, 255 grain Keith bullets in .454 soft lead and the .265 grain RN soft lead in .454 (last 2 from Jethunter).
Need to make major but I don’t want to stress the gun so lower pressure the better, leaning towards the 265 grains at 660fps which will be 174.9 PF. I’m flip flopping on powder...Titegroup is in my thoughts but I’ve got many to try.
Any educated suggestions are appreciated.
Waiting on some magnets for the moonclip holders, also thinking of ordering more 265’s (only have 200, not enough to do load development and a club match then qualifier).

I like it :)
Best loads I have are 5 grains of unique with a 250 gr SWC keith bullet sized .454
Trail boss is good to.

What did you use , a oven, I have used a heat gun , but never for a full holster.
Great looking job, but the color don't really get to me.
I have a spare uncle mick's clip on that would have worked for the belt, but that one looks good.
I bought some holster from a on line auction in Ont, last month, and kind of thought there was a Webley holster
 
I’m not big on the grey either...
It was the cheapest .080” Kydex sheet on Amazon (Black came in 5 sheets only, so cheaper by the sheet but more money).
I used the oven when the wife wasn’t around, definitely don’t do it if the wife is around... smells a bit until the house airs out.
It cooled a bit quick for my crappy homemade press so most of the shaping was done with a heat gun.
All the hardware was spares kicking around.
Just waiting on a new belt and I have to assemble the moon clip holders (magnets came in).
Plus a little tuning on the gun and load.

After playing with a few I’ve settled on a load.
NOTE: This load is safe for my gun and my gun only, if you choose to use this load start light and work up, plus have a gunsmith verify if your gun is safe to fire. i.e.: use at your own risk.

-Unique powder, 4.7 grains (.57 disc in a Lee Pro1000).
-Federal Large Pistol Primer.
-Assorted 45acp brass.
-265 grain Jet RN HB soft lead projectiles.
-1.34” OAL.
At sea level, approximately 10 degrees C my LabRadar has the average velocity at 651.5fps or 172 power factor (major).
This load was the cleanest, felt good and was accurate on a 10 yard target. I didn’t feel any need to look for more and this felt good in the hand (it didn’t feel like I was punishing it) so I think it’s pretty close to what would have been used back then.
Unfortunately it’s just about the end of the season so I’ll have winter to learn the reloading technique before an IPSC match.

5 gr Unique is good in the 45acp brass in a webley. It's maybe slightly hot for the MKII 455 brass. Sometimes people arent aware of the difference.

The Keith bullet cast soft and sized .454 is my favourite webley bullet.

I got these from you as well, they work great but they are a SWC.
In the IPSC game the round nose on moon clips offer a distinct advantage during reloads IMO so I’m sticking with your 265 grain bullet (working good for me).
I’m really looking forward to competing without a firearm, lol...
These things rock :)
