Weirdness in the woods

Nope, that was me.
No that was me I think
I used to hunt fox creek in the 90s
Was going after coues deer with my 22 creedmoor.
I was in thick muskeg when heard a loud rustle behind me. I turn around and a large brown shaggy looking thing twice the size of a grizz standing on hind legs rushed towards me. Last thing I received before blacking out was screaming at the top of my lungs “no, daddy”
I woke up real sore.

FBI investigated and said i got folded by Bigfoot.

I never went coues deer hunting in fox creek again

Spent two months a year travelling around BC, 98 - 04. Too many things to tell. Fished 104 lakes in BC in 25 years.
The strangest was a cry of a small baby. Made me want to go investigate the source.
Next day we seen a deer being chased by a cougar. So we thought it was the sound was a cougar voice. The deer ran across the river but cougars hate water so it didn't follow, or it was more interested in watching my wife and I. Ran and got the shotgun and later packed up camp and left the cottonwood river like wheels on fire.
Very eerie sound the cougars make.

Being stalked by a cougar is something I don’t wish on anyone.
The sounds they make. Totally make you want to investigate. Or ohhh there’s some cute little birds that way. Nope

I didn’t bring it up with the old lady till we were back in the truck.

Bigfoot use cubbies to trap lynx?
Thats what i also assumed. But No boxes inside or wire on the tree.
Ive hunted many trap lines and the wood piles stay in place from year to year

This wood structure will be gone come opening season this year .ill bet ..
as i have seen others that look woven like a basket. But smaller in size
Wish my flip phone was better at the time..
place gives me the creeps anyhow..
My hunting partner also dosent like going back into those valleys anymore.
Needless to say my curiosity keeps me looking.

Actually I do have one that happened in 2021 in Magnetawan Ontario. I had an off grid property on East Poverty Bay Rd. 12 acres of hardwood right out in the woods. Dead end road. Some cottages on one side and a few hunt camps on the other. Beyond the hunt camps, it was all crown land for miles all the way up to Golden Valley. The property had a house and I lived there full time with her majesty and the kids.

Anyways, one night that summer I was getting down for bed in the basement. We had our bedroom down there as it was nice and cool. Everyone was asleep in the house. The basement was a walkout into the backyard. Back there there was about 60 yards then some bushes and trees. A small stream then a hill leading up to the forest. Actually had my 100 yard target in the middle of that hill. Laying prone beside my house I could get a nice clean shot at my target there.

Back to the story. I was laying in bed with the windows open and I started to hear what I can best describe as a whistle-whine. Like something was moving around to different spots in the backyard making a whistle whine sound periodically. It sounded like a whistle which turned into a large dogs whine with a canine breath at the end. The whistle-whine-breath would only take about two seconds each time. One sounding like it was right at the window. I actually spooked me. I went and grabbed the 870. And I shone the light out and around in the backyard from the window. Didn’t see anything. And the sound stopped after I looked around with the light for a bit. I think it may have been a bear calling her cubs or something.

I never did see anything and never found any prints. I can say for sure that the breath at the end sounded almost canine and like it came from something very large.

Any input on what it may have been would be greatly appreciated!

Found this and others every year. Some small and some are big like this one my imagination cooked up. Far .far from my truck in November

My kids and I have built over a dozen structures in northern Ontario that are km’s from the closest vehicle access. I wonder how many have been found and labeled as Bigfoot structures 🤣

There’s a reason nobody has any concrete evidence of Bigfoot existing 😉

Sum ppl might like that..

I've never had anything like the OP's second story, which was a gripping story for me! I have no doubt that sense of sadness and fear were real, and I believe that it could be the presence of a very tangible evil. I know too many stories from too many people to dismiss such things; alternatively, there are places where one feels overwhelming peace and joy.

But I digress. I did have one unsettling hunting experience a little over 5 years though. I was hunting a new area for grouse, and parked my truck near some trails. It had snowed the day before, so there was about an inch of snow on the ground. I started down the trail, trying to pay close attention to my surroundings.

I quickly realized something odd: there was absolutely no sounds. No wind rustling the remnants of dead leaves on the poplars. No birds chirping or hopping branch to branch. No squirrels chattering or running through the blanket of dead leaves under the light snow. No ravens or magpies. I walked about a mile and a half, getting more and more uneasy as time went on.

I did end up shooting three grouse with my Henry 22lr, and that was the only sound that pierced the air. The grouse just sat on the edge of the road, so I didn't even hear them. I turned around after the third bird. The last half mile before I got to the truck saw my anxiety started to ramp up, as the daylight disappeared quickly. And just as I got to the truck, I heard wolves howling down the trail!

Now, my question was how long those wolves had been present. I saw no tracks, so they hadn't walked the trail ahead of me. I didn't hear them walking alongside me down the path. Yet I know that the bush is usually only silent like that when an apex predator is around, and it certainly wasn't me! I've hunted there numerous times since, and it's always had classic bush sounds... But not that time. I grew up hunting in the bush, and I had never experienced that for so long. I still joke with friends that Sasquatch nearly got me that day, but I know it was wolves that were the most likely cause.

I also ran into a pack of wolves hunting deer in 2024, and two tried circling around me in the bush. That got the heart rate going!

It wasnt a bear calling cubs.
That is a sound i have “heard” many times.
It is nearly inaudible.

Sounds like a canid.

Back in the dark ages we used to do all the maintenance and repair of the logging equipment at night. There was 2 of us for 30 some pieces of iron so we worked by ourselves for 90% of the time.
Lunch was usually around 2am and when we logged in the mtns we could watch these weird lights in the sky.
Definitely not conventional aircraft as no plane could move like these things.
My partner and i would yap back and forth on the bush radio while we both watched these weird lights from different perspectives 10 miles apart.
They changed colour, made sounds, disappeared and then reappeared.
Pretty wild.

I've heard this story but just to expand on it a little... after you woke up sore in the anal area you went back to the truck very upset and grabbed a bigger rifle. 30-06 maybe, and headed back to the scene of the butt pummeling. Bigfoot snuck up behind you again and you begged for your life. He told you if you wanted to live you had to drop trou and bend over a stump. You happily obliged.

Once again you bow leg hobbled back to the truck, thoroughly upset that you'd been outsmarted a second time and your arse had to pay the price. Last rifle in the truck was a .375 HH and you grabbed it and headed back to the clearing for a 3rd meeting with revenge in mind.
You snuck into the area in full stealth mode being as quiet as possible, scanning the scene of the crimes when you heard a loud "Ahemmm" behind you, at which point you knew what was coming and just walked over to the stump, dropped your pants to your ankles bent over it and grabbed hold tight. Then you heard,.."you're not really here for the hunting are you Byron?"

I enjoy conversations like this. I’m kinda stoic and can explain away or shrug off most happenings.
I think humans have lost some sensory prowess over time, don’t think it’s wise to fight against a gut feeling or sense of forboding.
My wife’s great grandma was Cree. One day she set a big spread for supper as Henry was coming home. Henry had been gone for months with no contact, showed up for supper to surprise his mom!
Wife’s mom is the sweetest lady you’ll ever meet. Every once in a while she’ll be introduced to someone and give us the side eye and comment “I don’t like that guy”. Invariably a bad man.
Wife was to stop in at a house with my daughter who was 3 or 4 and a very gregarious child. Daughter threw an absolute panicked fit and would not go in that house, entirely atypical behaviour for her so they carried on.

I dont think thread 274 is creative OR imaginative ..should be a
good listen B.frank

That Wood structure looks out of place in the middle of
nowhere
was my
correlation .. to the thread
"whats happening here" was my sentiment to.. strange
Actually buddy sends me pics of same every fall when he's elk hunting up NW of GP. He's convinced himself they're Bigfoot teepees.

Whistling swan or Roger Whittaker roaming around your yard.

3 years ago in northern BC...

While scanning the ridgelines during last light, I saw what looked like construction worksite lights coming from between the tree tops south of the hill I was on. I was far from a major town and I made sure there was no active mining or forestry in the area before I came to hunt. Regardless, I assumed I got the info wrong. I couldn't hear anything going on, but maybe someone forgot to turn off the site lights. I pinned the trees on my map and decided I'd check it out in the morning. Walking back towards camp with the lights to my back, I started to see my shadow move as if the lights were getting brighter and being raised. Now I was mad because I knew I found myself in an active work area and all my scouting was a waste of time... So, I turned around to see the lights, but as I was turning the lights became dim and all I could see was the forest in front of me. Again, no noise at all coming from this worksite. Whatever, I'll go to bed and come back in the morning. Just before first light I made the hike back to this worksite to find no trace of anything at all. No structures, no vehicles, no tracks- tire or boot.

I still have no idea what I saw.
