Went in today after work because my wife has a new baby on the way.Yup, She bought a M1 Carbine.Went through the doors of the North Edmonton WS Sports straight to the brass bins.Score!!!!! 2 bags of Winchester brass,I'm feeling good cause I had phoned P&D and they had none in stock. To the mold section and hunted throughout the whole disorganized mess, found a .311 100gr mould, not what I wanted but close enough.Off to the dies ,Lyman,Rcbs,Lee?Not a chance.Oh well I said, off to the gun counter I will ask them if they have stock at the south side branch. The old bleary eyed guy avoided eye contact until his shift was over,Don't get me wrong,I'm not so young and my eyes ain't what they use to be.The young buck was telling every customer that he had that they had picked out the finest rifle made, and he would personally mount the scope, bore sight it in and then bring it back to the counter to check eye relief. After about 30 minutes of patiently waiting I think I got the old bleary eyed guy's granddad to serve me.He couldn't use the stores computer if his life depended on it.In desperation he asks the young dude to "help me out".I'm busy the young dude says, get that guy to help you. After about a hour I grabbed a WS sports catalogue and phoned the South Side store myself.Do you have 30 M1 carbine dies?Let me check please hold for a moment.(brief pause) Yes we do would you like me to hold them for you?Yep I'll be down shortly. In less time than I stood waiting at the counter at the north store I drove across the city and walked up to the gun counter and found that indeed the salesman had put them behind the counter for me.Is there anything else I can help you with he asks?Well $786.62 later that shows what good service can do.Hats off to you Jean-Claude for great service!!!!

Doesn't surprise me, I've yet to have good service there. Closest thing was when a guy I know from work came over to help me (he works in the fishing section) and tried to point me in the right direction as best he could. But even he said the guys behind the gun counter are total junk.

I had a bad experience at the north side gun counter one time. I ended up calling the south aide store asking for the gun counter manager right off the hop, driving down there and getting it all fixed. A few months later I called the north side to see if they had an item in stock. Customer service was going to pass me to the gun counter. I said before you do is... blank... Working today. She said yes so I thanked her for her time and called the south store and did my business with them.

Some of the north side staff is great, like I love you great. Some not so much.

Employees come and go everywhere. Some are good, some aren't so good, some have good days and bad days. Getting pissed because we met one of the not-so-great retail employees isn't going to help. If they really piss you off then don't go there. In fact if you absolutely can't stand dealing with goofballs just hole up in mom's basement and never come out.

But those people who live in the real world need to get used to dealing with the goofballs because there are more of them all the time. Smart devices are producing dumb people at an alarming rate. It will only make you crazy if you don't learn how to exercise some patience. Take a deep breath, shake your head and move on. Ranting just prolongs the pain of dealing with a goofball.

Well, I fully understand having patience, BUT ! There comes a time when a person should say something instead of just excepting the bull:bigHug::bigHug::bigHug::bigHug:. Poor service is poor service and unless people speak up, nothing would ever change ! So, I personally, would write a nice but firm letter to the store manager and to corperate head office and let them know that their customer service sucks and that they have strong competition that is way better, and you will be spending your money with them. If the manager and head office then decide to do nothing, the fully deserve to get whats coming to them. If they look into the issue(s) and fix things, then everything improves for everybody. Yes, he ranted, and I fully agree with him, bad service should never be accepted or it will become the norm !

This is one of the ironies of society. The first person you encounter when you walk into any retail establishment is often the lowest paid, least trained, most transient, and most expendable person in the company. You can tell the companies that do a few hours of customer service training (here, Home Depot is a good example.) No Sale Sports in Langley is about as good as the OP describes.

Bad employees don't come and go there they stay there..............they're idiots in the Calgary,Grand Prairie and Edmonton stores............Harold

Wholesale Sports pays their gun counter employees $11/hr.When one of the BC stores opened the manager(who I knew well) called me and asked if I'd be interested in working there for that starting wage.I was semi retired after 25 years in the gun and tackle business in BC.He was apologetic, but that was their starting wage.I must have burst out laughing a dozen times just thinking about it.You get the staff quality that you are willing to pay for,and it shows most at the gun counter. Mur

I have to agree, the employees in the North Edmonton store are half witted-inbred idiots. I was looking for a Hornady Powder Measure and thought they might have it behind the counter. When I asked probably the same old grey haired guy for a powder measure he looked at me like I had two heads. Oh Well, I have always had excellent service at the south store, to bad its so far to get to.

tried to buy citori 410 o/u . got tired of waiting on phone . tried email , less waiting time . someone put one on hold for me . next email was no stock !

ever gone inside to the counter and ordered a tim horton's coffee, and watched 10 cars get served at the drive-through with the same thing as you while you wait for them to make your one cup? made me think of that... If they put cream and sugar dispensers out for customers to use, they could cut their staff in half...

I've had good experiences in the Calgary and Edmonton stores. Shop there a lot and seldom have a complaint other than they are always out of stock. I've run into the odd goofball but sure as hell not all of them. Name calling doesn't make them or you any smarter, but probably I'm just not sophisticated enough to understand how stupid they are. LOL.

One thing I do avoid at wss is mailorder - they are bad at that.

Doen't get me wrong there are a few guy's at the north store that are quite helpful.Unfortunatly quite a few of them I think were headhunted by other stores.I did speak to one of the guys at the south store about the service and was told when we're busy why should you jump the line.Yes I agree with this, but what pissed me off was the fact that perhap's some of the employee's show up to get their paycheque and their discount and not a hell of alot more.

I find the employees at the north location to be the worst of the worst. They should fire them. All of them.

They frequently do everything in their power to avoid serving the customer. I showed up on a Wednesday night about a half hour before close. I walked around the store and counted a total of 6 staff and one other customer. That's a ratio of 3:1, staff to customers.

I needed some help with an items that is the responsibility of the gun counter. I couldn't get any of the employees to stop whatever BS they were doing to give me the time of day to help me. So I went to customer service and had the lady there literally page them over and over again which they ignored. While she was paging, I walked over to the gun counter, to see them continuing their chat with each other while ignoring the page. They need to be fired yesterday.

They're all so cocky. I just LOVE being told with such attitude that "No stock in Edmonton has any 22LR (aside from Remington) and hasn't for 6 months! Good luck finding it!" How could they possibly be that clueless? Canadian tire stocks more 22LR than they do. Cabela's literally has so much selection and cases of it they have to stack it up by the reloading components...

I've been told the same about 7.62x39 after having just left milarm with their crates on the floor, same at Cabela's or anywhere else.

They're the city's biggest joke in Gun and Ammunition sales!

I work the gun counter WSS north edmonton, I know some of the employees your talking about, It gets me fustrated as well. Unforchently I only work a couple shifts a week, if that, its part time work for me as I am with the military full time, I do it because I want to, i think I clear $70-100 a paycheck as most of my wages go to tax. I try to get as many customers as I can, and set them up with not only what they want but what they need for their shooting activities (I hate when people who sell you something that doesn't work for what you want to do because they never asked the simple question "what are you planning to do with *it*?"). I also try to get stock out onto the shelfs, very fustrating when there is nothing in the back to put out in the first place.

As for some of the stock issues, it may actualy suprise you to know how much we sell. example: we have over 20 mini 14's come in, within 2 weeks we sold out. Cabelas on the other hand have had the same 2 mini14's on their shelf all year. 10/22 same deal we sold all 20 something basic ruger 10/22 in a matter of weeks, I grabbed the last one myself. same goes for many tikkas, sakos, mosberg 500's so on and so forth, even SKS's we had I 4 or 5 crates gone in a month. We litraly can't keep them in stock. We empty the stock shelfs in weeks, but only get shipments from certain brands once every couple months. There is nothing we can do about it... we can't order more in a shipment because its not our store doing the ordering, we get our allotment and thats it.

On that note a ruger shipment is due early november.
