Well, I got an iltis ...

It even has the unstucker kit bolted to the rear rim, saw that during stupid kit checks, but never used it, or even mounted it. Hopefully you have the rest of the kit.

I don't have the rest of the kit, I have one of those units mounted to the other rear hub as well.

Do you know what I'm missing? Or where I could get the rest?

LOL, you're bringing back some memories...

Just remember to always take a shovel and a good excuse for why it took an hour for what should have been a 20 mike trip.

Not nessessarily a good memory either! The one saving grace is that today most of us carry cellphones for when we require recovery and we are no longer restricted to having to wait for vehicle techs to get around to recover us.

The rest of the kit had a spool about the same diameter as the mount, and a thick rope, basicly a like a capstain winch on a boat. I have no idea where you could find one. good luck.

Vtech? Lol, just tell the crew to get out and "lift". Iltis made a great "accident scene" vehicle for role playing, simply hop out and flip it on it's side. Of course it had a tendancy to do this on it's own ;-)

I don't know how Driver Instructors put up with newbies learning on that thing, brave brave souls!! lol.

Great find and looks to be nicely restored! I love mine, especially in the summer. Keep on top of the basic maintenance and it'll last a long time.

I'll get you a shipping quote for the manual later this week. Christmas time a zoo around here.

Congrats on the Iltis and welcome to the club! I am a bit of a car collector and the Iltis is one of the best purchases I have ever made. Any of you that think the Iltis is not very good off road need to come for a ride with me! I'll post some pics and video later to back this up, but for now enjoy this view from a train tressel just outside Algonquin Park.

Nice Iltis, and if you're looking for any parts or kit send me a PM, I might be able to help you out. (tire chains, unstucker, etc.)

Hey! Thanks so much!

I actually have a new set of tire chains. I am interested in getting the rest of the unstucker kit, and trailer.

Can anybody tell me about operating in 2x4 ?

There's an orange light on the dash that comes on while in 2x4, in the DND manual they say this is an "abnormal operating condition"

What's the deal. Should I always be in 4x4 ?

Nice looking Iltis! Are those canvas walls and top? - they look great!. We have an iltis in line to be redone eventually, and are planning on going to diesel to eliminate a lot of the stupidity that the gas setup caused.

I will check into that warning light and get back to you. Congratulations once again!

Edit: Following along the lines of StenCollector's post, the advice that I received says to make sure that your 4WD and diff locks are fully disengaged. Checking the linkages may be required. Sorry I couldn't be more specific, hope it helps!
