Well, I've had 2 m305s since I started buying guns a couple years back. The First was an awesome 2007 m14s, full length I picked up from Epps. Shortly after, I had an opportunity to trade my old Macbook Pro for a Socom 18, so I took that deal, and sold the M14s. I gave the guy a smoking deal. ($500 shipped with 2 stocks a couple mags in a hard case!? Come on!! I really wanted cash for a VZ58 lol) I wish I kept that one. If it wasn't sold to a member from QC I might have tried to buy that one back!

Well, since then I've gotten into Remington 700s and now I have 2. Recently I needed a scope upgrade, so I sold my Socom 18 to a friend. Again, for a great deal.

I knew I'd be back, but I didn't think it would hit me so fast.

I got my scope in the mail about 2 weeks ago and already I'm feeling a big 30 caliber hole in my heart. So yesterday I sold a nice .22 lever action I had to fund another m14 project. This will not be my last, but this time around I plan on taking it exactly in the direction I always intended. I settled for some parts on the last one, where I could have waited for the right stock and usgi parts I really wanted. No plans to add any mount or accessories this time. Just a nice plain Jane M14 with a wood USGI stock and a few select USGI parts such as the hammer and trigger, bolt guts, and rear sight is my end game for now (...yeah right). I'm going to take my time and do it right.

Time to go hunting...

The elders warned me this is a serious addiction. That is no lie.

You're in trouble now....lmfao. I bought one cause I thought it was a cool gun. I've now tweaked and tuned 4 Norc sand sold them. Bought a Springfield National Match and loved it, sold it and built an Lrb/ IDF/USGI build. I'm sure there's more than just one more in your future. :)

I bought my M-14 back in 2006/07 or so from Epps as well. Aside from an initial indexing issue, it has worked flawlessly ever since. Just put it into a bedded USGI stock and kept going. I don't know how much ammo I have down the pipe, but I don't ever plan on getting rid of it.

Along side my No4 Mk1, I'm keeping it for as long as I can shoot it.

I just bought a 305, I have hopes as putting as much Usgi parts in as possible. Where does a guy find them though? They don’t seem as easy to find as parts for a Garand. Or I’m looking in the wrong places.

As long as I've been paying attention, I've seen lots of parts available on the EE (mostly in the modern military and black rifle parts and accessories. Sometimes in the milsurp parts and accessories). You can use some garand parts such as the rear sight and some trigger parts.

Wolverine was parting out some IDF kits recently although they weren't listed on their site. I would email them to see if they have anything left if you are looking for specific parts.

My last socom had an over indexed barrel. I took it to one of Tactical Teacher's clinics and we straightened her out. What a cool experience that day was. And for what he charges for admission to his clinics, you can not lose. It was worth way more than the cost just to straighten the barrel let alone all the other benefits of attending.

last I checked Wolverine still has standard barrel usgi kits availlable. Gotta hand it to wolverine for thier pricing too. Just type m14 or parts kit or IDF into thier search function on the website and you will find it.

The kits are up there on the site. I seem to recall they made a post a few months (?) Back saying they would part them out. They posted a price list in their forum showing all the parts. At the time I believe they said the individual part's pricing wasn't available on their site. Their prices looked really reasonable.

Thanks for the replies. I have shot about 90 rounds through my 305 and I do enjoy it when it works. I’ve been having real issue with the mags fitting and feeding correctly. Of 4 mags, only one works flawlessly. I was told I should take it to a gunsmith, is there anything else I could do or would this be suggested?
I’ve tried filing down the mags some and it’s seemed to help a little.

They broke down the kits in the worst shape, bad stocks, finish issues, missing parts, etc.

They are out of the most popular parts, such as bolts.

They do still have complete kits left, not many last I talked to them. They don't want to break them all down, sell all the bolts and oprids, and end up with dozens of loose parts that don't sell well by themselves.

We're I them, I'd import less expensive receivers to sell with the kits. The problem is they lost their LRB distributorship and basically all US M14 parts dealers are all partnered with a competitor, including affordable Fulton receivers.

As far as the mags go, who made the mags? I have about 12 Norc mags and 4 usgi mags and have never had an issue. However certain other mag manufactures would not jive with my norc at all, I cant recall who made them, but they were very dark in color almost black compared to the norcs light grey. So it may not be the rifle it could just be the mags
