Westrifle sent me a real nice 1949 sks.

very nice rifle ,i had one from westrifle a few years ago also it was very nice .The stock was reworked and stamped on the side with the rifles serial and year ,the notch was made longer for the spike bayo but other than that it looked ok

Congrats, you also have the original skinny handguards, not too common cos most were replace with the potbelly hand guard.

Sorry to say it, but the stock looks like it's been re-worked and recently stamped with replica markings. The 1949 cartouche in the wood doesn't look lcorrect and you can see where another marking just below it was sanded off. The original serial numbers were machine applied in a straight line in 1949, not all over the place with hand stamps.

It's still a nice rifle, but the stock is humped in my opinion.

I think we all know it is a refurb, very few 49 are not, but it is a nice one compared to most available these days!

Yes, but I wasn't going to say that. Not sure it even matters for a refurb really.

Refurb wood on a 49 is expected , most original wood didn't survived , they were replaced by newer potbelly HG.

So to see a 49 with a skinny HG from the same year is quite rare. Albeit refurb.

Yes. The 49s took a real beating compared to all subsequent sks's. A legit untouched example is exceedingly rare.... and beat. I have seen one.
