hey their

ive search info on a-bolts and i hear that their crap! but i dont really hear why?

so its a floorplate with a detachable box inside? i dont think that would be that bad but ive never even seen one.

i hear the bolt has a loose feeling? trigger sucks?

how about accuracy?

why so overpriced?

please give me your real world expierience not just "they suck get a remington" lol

thanx

I've had a few. I have had no complaints. I actually like the mag/floorplate, it just takes a bit of getting used to.

The triggers are adjustable and while maybe not the best trigger on the market, certainly not the worst.

All of the A-bolts I've owned have been accurate.

They do cost more than many other rifles. Are they worth it? That is likely a personal preference.

"...why so overpriced?..." Primarily because it has 'Browning' stamped on it. Weatherby's are the same way. Both companies have top notch marketing departments.

I had one in 243 and it shot very good.I didnt want to take it out and scratch the mirror finish and never hunted with it so I sold it.They are a bit over priced IMO.

I have a Marlin MR-7 with the floorplate/detach mag and I like it alot.

My experience with Browning A-Bolts has been excellent. Shot well out of the box and no issues with function. Very well made. As for the detachable magazine - can't complain - functions well. As for whether it is overpriced - I'd say I got my money's worth.

The Sucks 700, on the other hand is overpriced and most can't shoot worth a damn out of the box without minor gunsmithing and adjustment.

Im not much of an Abolt fan. Point the rifle straight up to the sky and open the bolt and it wont even budge out of the action, not very smooth. The magazine puts alot of upward pressure on the bolt body. The mag system is overengineered and stupid. Whats the point of a detach mag inside a floorplate? GUess they couldnt make up their minds. Stocks are tupperware, nothing great there. Id expect more for a thousand bucks, something fiberglass.

Browning in a whole sure has a cult following though, some guys just love the look of the Buckmark.

Mine is standing up quite well. Lots of use, still very accurate. I like the floor plate and magazine approach though will admit the hinge on the floor plate concerns me a little so I'm extra carefull when it's open.

Why do I like the mag/floor plate setup? .. well I get the convenience of a mag (can have a few in my pocket) and with the floor plate closed, nothing is going to get in there that shouldn't.

In the "heat of the moment" during a steel shoot at the local club, I put 20 rounds down it in about 2 minutes .. thought I may have cooked the barrel but it's fine, shoots straight as ever. Great gun, ya .. a little more $$ than some but not as much as others, middle of the pack I guess. I'm happy with it and find the action very smooth.

I just hauled my A-bolt SS out of the safe to try it. As soon as it unlocks it falls all the way back.

There goes your credability....:p

Browning A-Bolt Rifles

I've got an A-Bolt composite stalker in .300 Win Mag that's a keeper. I've also had a stainless stalker in .308 and a hunter model in .30-06 before. The latter two were above average in the accuracy department stock, outta the box. The .300 Win Mag is exceptional.

While I've got more Remingtons than anything else I wouldn't hesitate to grab another A-bolt at the right price. New they are way up there but used/excellent they can sometimes be found quite reasonable.
