I think it's called a "pattern" not a group.

When you say "best" group, you are asking about the luckiest group. The one where the flyer went into the group instead of out of it.
Thanks Ganderite, I’m definitely happy with it. It’s ironic to think that a 3-3.5” is something to be happy about at 100y haha, but it’s an sks after all. I’m just having fun shooting it again, it hasn’t been out of the safe in a couple years. Always puts a grin on your face when doing a couple mag dumps with an sks!
I'd see if you can borrow one off a buddy without a chrome lined bore . and see how your groups are then . and as you say it might be just an sks but they are one of the most fun and reliable rifles ever built . and interesting looking . there was a lot of workmanship involved in building those rifles .most so called mass produced modern stuff makes me want to puke. there all plastic . as for the tightest group I have ever shot with an sks it was with a scope and not iron sights . a non chrome barrel and non corrosive ammo at 50 yards and they were all touching .
but once the barrel warmed up they started to string . sorry if I'm a little off topic .

I have one that’s not chrome lined but it has a scope one it, I’ll have to shoot it at 100 and compare the two. It’s shimmed the same as my laminate one and zeroed at 50y, was shooting nice groups. They really are great little rifles, I think I’ll be bear hunting in the spring with the one with iron sights. If I’m motivated to smooth out the trigger over the winter I’ll do some polishing and see if that helps it any.
My best groups was with bayonet
