What’s your Best rifle with Iron sights and scope ?

The Norinco m305 can have the weight reduced by 9 ozs by swapping out the norinco steel butt plate for an aim sports m1a/m14 rubber butt plate. The Dominion Arms Socom 18 weighs 9.182 lbs with empty 20 round mag - with loaded 5 round mag 9.160 - without mag - 8.619 lbs -

That was me last season. I lugged a big heavy barrel savage around. I really noticed it when I switched to the model 7 - about 7lbs with all the gear. The savage was around 12

Crazy how much you notice it after hiking the same routes and seeing how less tired I was after losing 5lbs - way less forearm pump lol

Have you considered a lever action? Henry long ranger has iron sight, is in 308 and has a barrel lenght of 20''. You can also get even smaller non-restricted lever. I have a 16'' 44 mag and it weights about the same than my CZ455 FS in 22lr.

It's a comforting carbine to have in your small tent when you're working in the high arctic.

I found a nice rig on EE. Will post a pic once it arrives.
 
I have an 88 win with see through mounts and a receiver sight mounted under the 1-4 Leupold. It's in 308, so I've never had an issue with any movement caused by the see through mounts, or even been kissed by the scope when using the receiver sight.
I have felt the scope touch me though, and would not recommend using this set up with anything heavier than the 308.

Yup, the 325 grain LeverEvolution stuff is deadly accurate from my 1895GS.
Haven't developed a handload to date that can match its accuracy.
I wrapped the finger lever with soft but strong suede leather strips ... no more knuckle wrapping.

I know lots of people that make life hard for themselves doing things the hard way so I don't know what to tell you. :)
