I am thinking about getting a .22 bolt action rifle in (not too immediate) future.

Looking for suggestions. I would like something, deadly accurate (ok is there an inacurate .22 bolt?) Something nice to look at, very smooth action, I think I want a repeater and not overly expensive.

I think if money wasn't an issue my first choice would be a Browning T-bolt.

I looked at the T-Bolt, nice firearm.

Bought a CZ 452 Varmint. I shoot eggs at 100 yards, and easily shoot clay targets out to 200. The CZ's are well put together, decent lumber, and are easy to mod the trigger; I have mine down to about 10oz. with a spring that I bought from TSC, and some aluminum tape to take out the creep. The only thing I don't like about the CZ is the safety, it works backwards from every firearm that I have ever used. They are a decent price too, mine was 450 + tax, whereas the T-Bolt was 650 + tax.

Hope this helps.

My dad purchased a Marlin 880SQ almost a decade ago and is very happy with it. Bull barrel and black synthetic stock it is very accurate. With Power-Points he is able to pick paintballs off of golf tees at 50m, usually without damaging the tees

Savage with accutrigger. even with a heavy barrel and thumbole laminate stock in stainless steel it will still leave you room for scope or ammo as compared to the Browning or the CZ. You will likely out shoot the others too.

X2 for the Savage. I bought a Savage Mark II BV (Lam stock/heavy barrel) not that long ago and love it. The accutrigger is great, zero creep and with an EASY mod you can get the pull under a pound. I pick paintballs off the tee's at 100 yards no problem.

x3 for the Savage. I have the MK II GL and it's been quite accurate ever since I sanded the stock down a little to free float the barrel (it was touching slightly on one side). It's more in the price range you're looking at brand new.

Make that x4 for the savage. Picked up a MKII FV a couple months ago and i love it. I would recommend getting the laminate stock over the synthetic though, the synthetic stock feels kind of flimsy in comparasion.

Damn. Your a little far away. I'd let you test drive. I've got a Savage, T-bolt and CZ. I think the CZ is nicer looking rifle. It's beefier, and feels most solid. And is the most accurate of the lot. Both the T-bolt and MK II are equal in the accuracy dept. Of course, I don't shoot high dollar target ammo either. I shoot bulk hollowpoint fodder. And with that, all three are accurate enough to make hits at 100 yards simple enough. The savage and Browning seem more on par to me. They both feature a relativly simple tube style action. Where as the CZ has a more traditional, rifle reciever that's milled. I like that. You choose what ever best suits you and your budget, but I would reccomend a close look at the 452/453. For the money, you simply cannot buy a nicer rifle anywhere.

I've got both a CZ 452 Varmint and a Savage heavy barrel, laminate, pre-accutrigger. They both shoot very well.

After many 1000's of rounds I've noticed a fair amount of wear on the Savage bolt, particularly the first 3/4 " back from the bold face. I suspect the steel used in the Savage is a lower grade than the CZ. The tolerances are also closer between the bolt and receiver of the CZ. I believe the CZ will be more durable in the long run.

I say Savage with HB and accu-trigger is great gun. I got mine brand new with scope in a package under 400$. My favorite gun. With right ammo it place shots into 1$ size group at 100m. And I have done nothing to it, its off-the shelf accuracy.

If you are in fact serious about the above claim I'd at least like to know what ammo you use and how consistently you can do this? You are talking about the .68 caliber paintballs, right? Are you shooting in a warehouse?

By far

I say the best bang for the buck CZ452. I have one and it is accurate for a off the shelf 22.

This winters project is a Benchrest stock for it to see its true potential.

It shoots very well if I do my part reading the flags.

Ok, seems like the CZ and the Savage are highly reccomended, my only issue with Savage is the bolt isn't exactly as smooth as I like but not bad.
Where is the best place (price) to find a CZ? Also are there any used ones out there?

Look around for one of the older classic .22s. Winchester 69s and 75s, equivalent Remingtons, Mossbergs, Marlins, Savages/Stevens, Brnos, etc. These can often be had for less than new rifles, tend to be smooth and accurate.

What model Cooey was the repeater? Was it grooved for a scope?

I do like the look of the Marlins, is there a particular model that I should be looking at? (bolt, smooth, accurate, repeater)

Cooey repeaters - later ones are Model 60 or 600 - may have no provision for scope mounting, may be drilled and tapped for a side mount, or may be grooved, depending on when they were made. They've been around for a long time. Generally shoot quite well, but are rather primitive.
