What .243 Is In Your 'Never To Be Sold' Collection?

BAR Shortrack. It might not shoot the center out but it'll hit the toonie and and give me an instant follow up shot if the toonie starts running. Load 95 gr. ballistic tips and get 3000 fps despite the autoloading action.

I picked up last august a remington 700 BDL, .243, hart heavy barrel, match chamber, i picked it up for $600, the action is from 1980, barrel had 5 shots down it and was like new and shoots even better, no problem cloverleafing at 100 yrds.

Surprised no one has posted a pic. Don't think I'll sell this one. Shoots nice with 87 gr Hornady SP's, and 36 grs of H4895.

Bought a brand spank'in new rem 700 dm in .243 a year ago. I shot a big heavy 4X4 whitetail last fall with it. Its an ecomomy unit but i'll keep it. Afterall...its the only one I have. ;)

Some day I hope to have a Sako Finnwolf .243 in my "never to be sold" collection.

good luck my friend. I waited and searched for a hulofava long time for a Finnwolf, finally I found one in 308. But 243, save your cash, do it now, save lots and lots, one just might pop up sometime sooner or later, but it ain't gonna be cheap! I wish ya good luck, and when you do find one, you will love her to death! They are the most awesome of the lever actions. It ain't no glorified Win 88, as some wanna be gun guys may suggest! The Finnish quality is there big time! She's a winner for sure!

My Sako A2 Forester in .243 is a classic.

I found it last year at Tradex for a good price. When they shipped it to me, I was surprised at the condition - the bore looks new,
the bluing looks new, the action feels like a BNIB rifle, and the walnut stock only has a couple of very minor safe kisses.
Whoever owned it before me (Tradex probably imported it from Europe) looked after it and perhaps never used it.

I own a few Sakos in other calibres, but the A2 .243 gets the most range time
(it's a pleasure to shoot, and it wants to put 100 gr lead in the same hole at 100 yds)
and it is perfect for hunting black-tail deer here on Vancouver Island.

Below is a photo of it (with the original Tradex tag attached to the trigger guard):

Right now, she is wearing a Redfield 3-9x42 scope AND a set of Sako iron sights (kindly donated to the cause by a local fellow Sako owner).
But I intend to replace the Redfield with a Leupold VX-2 in the very near future.

Some rifles just look and feel right .. like an extension of yourself. And, for me, the Sako A2 Forester in .243 is exactly that.

Cheers ..

I have an all-original pre-garcia Sako Forester L579 .243. I have the original Sako peep for it, and used it to shoot one deer so equipped. It now wears original windage adjustable Sako QD mounts, and a Zeiss 3-9 x40.

I don't even like 243's that much but this thing shoots so sweetly that it has earned a permanent place in my collection. It is probably my most accurate rifle. It likes 70gr. Nosler BT's / Varget and 100 gr. partitions / H4350, and even shoots factory load Winchester 80's into tiny groups. It is slim and has the floorplate release in the trigger bow, which I like better than my slightly newer L579 .308 that feels a little thicker/heavy and not as quick in the hands.
