I have owned three Rossi's, a Browning, a Marlin, and a Chiappa. They all functioned OK, but preferences lead me to sell the Browning ( well finished and accurate, but only shot well with jacketed bullets because bore was oversize ) and the Marlin ( feeding was fussy, also oversized bore, and handled like a club) one of the Rossi's was a little rough, inside and out, and it went down the road. I kept a Rossi trapper carbine with the bolt mounted safety and replaced it with a peep sight ( wonderful arrangement!) and I settled on the Chiappa as the best of the bunch. Fit and finish are excellent, shoots any ammo including cast bullets well, smooth, balances well with the 20" barrel and feels good in the hand. I know some Chiappas were poorly built in the past, mine is less than three years old and I think they have improved from their past questionable quality control.
