I'm with Scatter Gun. No resemblance to my blued R1. That particular gun should have been returned to Remington ASAP. If the SS R1 I have coming looks anything like that, it's going directly back to P&D Ent. post haste.
As for mim/cast parts, they've been around a long time and most makers use them in some form, Ruger among them. For years I held on to a Colt Series '70 1911 without building in the parts I bought for it. Why? Because it rattled when you shook it, like a beater GI gun and had a tooth gritting trigger pull. I was quite happy to trade it off.
I recall a friend's nickle plated Series '70 with a trigger guard that was twice as thick as it should have been. A step in the machining process had been missed. I've heard similar stories about current Series '80 1911s.
Like cars, every once in a while, a lemon gets sold. That's when we find out how good the maker's customer service is.
