What .45 auto under $800 ???????

I'm not sold on the Remington.... Lots of cast/mim parts, poor fitting, tool marks, and series 80 garbage safety. Not worth it with all the other options out there.

I compared the photo's of the R1 to mine and I don't know where he got his R1 from but mine does not have any poor fitting parts or machining marks on, maybe he got an early prototype.

I am trying out a Turkish 1911 Clone which I got from the EE for $450.00 in near new condition, it is a plain jane GI style in matte black similar to the SAM's. So far no problems, it shoots well, the sights are similar to the early military issue.

I'm with Scatter Gun. No resemblance to my blued R1. That particular gun should have been returned to Remington ASAP. If the SS R1 I have coming looks anything like that, it's going directly back to P&D Ent. post haste.

As for mim/cast parts, they've been around a long time and most makers use them in some form, Ruger among them. For years I held on to a Colt Series '70 1911 without building in the parts I bought for it. Why? Because it rattled when you shook it, like a beater GI gun and had a tooth gritting trigger pull. I was quite happy to trade it off.

I recall a friend's nickle plated Series '70 with a trigger guard that was twice as thick as it should have been. A step in the machining process had been missed. I've heard similar stories about current Series '80 1911s.

Like cars, every once in a while, a lemon gets sold. That's when we find out how good the maker's customer service is.
