Oh Dot Good score. I picked up a used Remington youth model 16 guage express. I've added a full size Hogue stock and ordered a Trulock turkey choke for it. ( hope it arrives before the season.) I believe Comp n Choke makes 16 guage Remchokes as well.
What about the 16 gauge?

I called the Canadian distributor for Trulock about 2 weeks ago. He requested I send him an email which I did right away. Haven't heard a peep since. I believe he has to order them in and then forwards them to the purchaser. I patterned the factory mod choke at 20 and 30 yards with Remington #6. Gives a nice even pattern. Should be good for pheasant and grouse.

Don't worry about the Canadian Distributor. He is a real good guy. He forwards your order, has it shipped to him then he forwards the package to you. THEN he requests payment via CHEQUE. It is refreshing to deal with a guy like that every now and then. I have ordered from the Tru Lock site in the states too. I just prefer to deal with the Canadian fellow. BTW his name is James Closen.

I'm not worried about it. The choke will show up when it gets here. When I bought the gun(on a whim) I knew it would be a bit of a project. I thought would be cool to make it into a 16 guage turkey gun. It's not something everybody else has. As stated above, I've patterned the factory mod choke with Remington #6. If I had a turkey within 20 yards I wouldn't hesitate to use the gun as is but I would prefer to tighten up the pattern. Btw, I checked the local CTC and found that they carry 3 different brands of slugs. This shotgun will likely make the trip to the deer camp this fall as well. Cheers Bac4

It's lighter then a twelve, bigger punch then a twenty. It carries, shoulders, and swings better then both. The Beta of shotguns. I roll my own spreader loads with hulls (upland hunting) from a distributor in Alberta. I also have 38lbs. of Bismuth, so ducks and geese will fall before them for years to come.
It works well. Try one on a scaled frame...and you'll love it.

So, picked up an older Cooey 84 16 Gauge a while back with the serial number on receiver and barrel, can you imagine - took it "up north" for Grouse hunting and shot plenty of them - with 1 oz loads less recoil than the twenty with 1 oz and a bit of nostalgia in my hands - not a collectable mind you but a keeper - I buy the ammo where I find it slugs buckshot whatever - I see more Federal than anything - prices comparable to the 20 gauge - I like it and I have a Citori Upland Special 12 Gauge in the closet .................

I found a 16 Gauge Browning Citori Gran Lightning, new in box at a gun store in NB. Asked to have a look at it, and had to take it home. Beautiful gun. Can't wait to take some grouse with it in the fall.
