Hey guys-quick question.. My 22LR usage is limited to gophers, targets (reactive AND paper) and the odd barn pigeon. I've never hunted rabbits, and don't have any plans to start. (don't care to eat them, and I've tried it a bunch of times). Anyhow, I've offered to clean up a buddy's 22, mount a scope I found for it, load test it..and zero the scope. Labor of love for me, and my buddy is more of a load & shoot anything he has on the shelf. Fine with open sights until now but like me...the eyes don't allow for much of that anymore.
Anyhow, I thought he only used this gun for grouse...so I had lined-up all of my subsonic ammo to test hone the scope arrives. He then mentioned he hunts rabbits too, now I'm not sure if any subsonic load should be in the running. I suspect it's fine out to about 75 yards with good shot placement, just interested in knowing what you guys use and why. If you use any subsonic with good effect, I'd especially like to hear what you're using. Photos welcome of course.
Curious if something like CCI SV (being a solid) has been good for any of you, I could always put some hollow points in a bunch of those to improve the effect.
Thanks for taking a moment to chime in!
Cheers, and stay safe.
