Hey guys.

I'm just curious, what was the most accurate ammo you've shot out of your 91/30? I know there's lots of variables when it comes to accuracy, I just want to hear what you guys use.

Mine all like Bulgarian silver tip factory ((10)) and 60's Chinese

I can't post a picture but I got a 2"x3" spread on 10 shots @ 100 yards using MFS Soft Points 203gr. They're quite accurate up to 200 yards, anything farther and they start wandering.

I use my own hand loads...just use 311 bullets , you can buy very well made bullets these days , hard cast bullets shine ...plus they are very inexpensive... I find they work better that solid copper or brass plus they never come apart

I shoot my Mosins all original config with iron sights, but that said the 203gr MFS shoot pretty darn good, and anything I make as a homeload in X54R I use a .312 bullet in 150gr. For shooting irons I only go out to 50 yards where with a scope its 100. I have saved targets in the loading file cabinet. I'll see if I can dig them out.

I had terrible results with MFS 185gr fmj's. At 100 yards I had zero accuracy. I'd aim for center each time and my shots ended up all over a 12x18 inch target. Switched to 203gr soft points and I had much better results.

The problem with Mosins is that the bore size is all over the place. What shoots well in one rifle will be bad in another.
Having said that, I've had good accuracy with Chinese and Bulgarian surplus with iron sights. Anywhere from 1.25" to 4" with four different guns. The tighter bores with .310-.311" grooves gave the best accuracy.

My mosin has a trigger job, bedding job and a VG bore. When I shoot iron sights at 100m I get groups of 6 inches with chinese surplus and 4 inches with MFS 203gr. I haven't tried anything else yet.
For the record, I shoot better with my enfield no4 iron sights, 3 inches at 100m. I don't think I'm able to do better with iron sights.

I'm usually a shoot from the hip kinda guy. But seriously a stock Mosin for me shoots terrible the ones I have. Then I bought a timmney trigger, cork on the barrel, those little metal plates where the bolts are, a muzzle brake, cheap scope, now it shoots great for my ability. Went from being able to hit an old car in the bush at 100 m to being able to hit a dinner plate at 100m. I use cheap corrosive surplus ammo. I'm poor.

Nothing wrong with that and you're enjoying yourself. IMO, the whole idea of having one is to shoot surplus ammo. The option to handload or buy more expensive non-corrosive just makes it better.
My '43 Izzy sniper like the Barnaul 174 gr FMJ.
These rifles do require a little tinkering, but they will shoot if the bore and crown are good. The stock sights are not the greatest, but adequate for minute of plate @ 100 meters
