Hey all,

I was planning on buying another rifle so I am looking for a scope I have a Bushnell Elite 3200 and it has been great but I was wondering what else was out there but it can't be too expensive and around the same genre as a Elite 3200

So I guess, what scopes are good from the $250-$350 range?

Thanks

How about a Leupolds VXI, they are in that price range and are the same quality as the old VXII's. Not bad for a cheap scope.

Dude.... that's NOT cheap.

Apparently, anything less then a Leupold VXIII or similar is "cheap" or thats the feeling I get around here.

A VX-I would be a good choice imo but I thought I would ask

For someone like yourself just starting out in shooting there is nothing wrong with something like a VXI, thats what I would go with if I was in your shoes. Maybe after getting some shooting time under your belt you will start to realize the benefits of more expensive quality optics. They are not just a marketing gimmick.

Good luck with your choice :)

Actually the Leupold "Rifleman" series have the same lenses and lens coating as the original VaryXII Leupolds (Magnesium Flouride single lens coating).
They are in the $300-$450 price range and come in a 2-7X33, 3-9X40, 3-9X50 and a 4-12X40... great value for quality riflescopes.

The new VX-I has fully multicoated lenses and is in the $500 and up range.... and worth every penny! It is available in the same configurations as the Rifleman but is available in gloss finish as well as matte.

FYI 83, my brother bought a Armsport back in the 1970 for $29.95 and still has it on his 7mm BAR. He has shot as many moose with it as he would of if it were a $1000 scope. Try some local gun shows if you have any in your area and buy what you can afford. I took a $600 scope off 243 and use a 3x9x Banner because I like it and it works better for my eyes.

Well I always watch EE everyday and sometimes there are good deals but sometimes they aren't.

I know some people get away with using lets say Bushnell Banners but some people on here would never try one and just go straight to a Leupold or Swarovski or something like that.

I am also looking into the Burris as they can be found cheap on ebay if found at the right time.

I am just asking just so I know.

Sorry Redd, If you are paying that much for a VXI you are paying wayyyyyy too much. I am holding the Russels sports book in front of me and VXI's range from $299-$449. A VXII 3-9x40 is only $449.

The Riflemans range from $289-$349.

Where ever you buy your scopes from is priced much too high. Hopefully they are kissing your neck before they stick it in :p :D

A scope is nothing more than a sight. Before buying a sportsmen I would check out ebay. I bought a Bushnell scopechief for 60$ which is better than any sportsmen. Wal-Mart, Canadian Tire scopes are worth there wieght in scrap 2cents a pound

x3 on the Elite 3200, perhaps the best value out there.

Personally, I would avoid the Leupold rifleman series just due to the friction (no "clicks") windage/elevation adjustments - they seem to be pretty good glass though.
