S&K or Leupold DD's.
Start with a new scope that has a 1" tube and finish with a set of Leupold DD's. IMO for a hunting rifle there is none better and I have tried them all.
I agree wholeheartedly. Best bang for the buck when the scope is the correct length for the action. Real short scopes and long actions pose a problem.
EVERYONE makes weaver style rings these days all the way from el-cheapo to high end and very dependable. It's a very good system, esp with steel weaver bases.how is the quality of weaver these days?

.
**NOTE** I'm not talking weaver brand rings here. I use Burris, Warne, Leupold etc brand rings that use the weaver system. It's the most copied system out there including the picatinny ones. You think the Weaver is much better than say a standard 1913 type?
Chuck, any flies on the Warne system for you?
no as I am sending back the defective set he made me, that were supposively done to exacting custom standards...that I waited almost a year for... I would suggest that the are in fact not the best. He told me he had done rings for this scope before as well... I guess he hadnt. It didnt fit in three places, the bell touched, it allowed for no for an aft movement for eye relief and it touched in the rear as well. 3 issues isnt that good.
His solution was get another scope. Yeah I will ditch an almost $3K scope for your $400 dollar mount. Apparently according to him its just me with this problem. I have the gun at a very reputable gunsmith so I will get something else.
I am pissed off about this alot. I liked his mount, wanted it to work...but it just doesnt. I wont even get into the "wait" for the mount, ironic considering he quoted me no more than 6 weeks when I bought it.
Sorry boomer...we are going to have to disagree here.
What is the scope you have? From what I can see from your description I'd be putting it on the EE tomorrow.

Other than being high, clunky, and heavy no.![]()
I like the low mount dual dovetail, but modular is more important to me. Scope breaks, just pull another out of the backpack and lever it on.
I am soooooooooooo gonna get a set of those, for an application that doesn't include iron sights. Are those 30mm?
