what are the cartridges that have been forgotten but are still worth remembering?

.300 Imperial and the entire Imperial line. A Canadian cartridge ahead of it's time. Kind of like the Avro arrow.

So many challenges that prevented the Imperials but I am still surprised they did not carve out a bigger niche.

I am surprised by the shock and curiosity surrounding my 35 Whelen. I built a lightweight so the parts catch the attention of other hunters when we cross paths. Most have never heard of the Whelen.

Yep. That be why I love shooting my 32-40 Win. A very accurate and pleasant cartridge to load for.

I feel the same way about the little 32-20. Alot of fun to reload for, and I have pushed the boundaries with that little cartridge using quality hard cast bullets (w/ gas check) and modern powders.

Been wanting a 9.3x62 for eons... may pull the trigger one day. I really want a Sako Bavarian Carbine chambered in this fine cartridge, but I pretty much blew my next 6-months budget on several impulse purchases. :)

grab one. its a cool round. As for a Sako, yea, thats out of my price range too, but others make a good one

Well, we ended up with the 300 and 338 RUM which are basically the same things. - dan

^ the eatons carcano is an interesting piece of Canadiana and a nice sporter considering it’s origins. I’d like to grab one that isn’t in rough condition someday if those exist

Always interested in guns in 6.5x54 ms that are not Mannlicher Schoenauer’s. I’ve seen some Austrian looking Mauser sporters in it and read about kurz Mauser oberndorf sporters.

I’ve seen catalogs from the same time period refer to 215 grain 303 cordite loads and 9x57 loads as “ high velocity! Flat shooting!” so the 6.5x54 ms must have seemed like a bolt of lightning

338 RCM and 300 RCM.

You can still get some components every so often and ammo but don't see them around much. Reamers are custom orders (Manson precision is currently working on one for me)

Basically a necked up 6.5 PRC case just never really took off.
