What are you guys using for gun belts?

When I was getting my gear for IPSC someone recommended Double Alpha Academy, that's what I picked up, absolutely no complaints.

If you like leather look up Simply Rugged. I use their 1 3/4" and 1 1/2" and both are excellent belts. He ships to Canada. Any of the Wilderness belts work well too.

The double belts used in IPSc are not legal for IDPA. You can of course only use the inner belt.

I use a belt from RavenHornLeather, it's a local leather shop in Winnipeg. The shop also made my holster and mag pouches.

All really high quality, thick saddle leather
stuff.

I'm actually selling one of their holster on the EE, if you want to check out their stuff, check my adds.

I asked an IDPA guy about that exact thing - using ONLY the inner velcro belt, and was told - NO. It must look like a regular 'street' belt. Buckle, etc. So, who is right?

The rule book is right. There is nothing in the 2017 RB to require a buckle or look like a "street" belt whatever that is. All you have to do is read the words that are there and not add any as you read the rule. To many don't read the RB and when they do they add words that are not there. The IDPA rule book is the last document I would hold up as an example of concise writing but rule 8.4 is pretty clear. The IDPA guy can contact me or the new POC down in PA for clarification.

If you are never going to shoot IPSC and only intend to shoot IDPA the double belt sold by a couple of suppliers is a waste of money. The only advantage other than it goes with some folks dress code is you can slip off the outer belt that holds your holster and mags holders. Outside of that, a well made leather belt or the wilderness Belt made by several companies works just as well.

the biggest advantage of the double belt system is not having to feed the belt thru the loops than add your pouches. Also your not limited to spacing between your belt loops. Lets you be set up properly from the get go everytime.

That is what I said. Unfortunately, IDPA doesn't allow that system to be used. See the quoted rule above. I have never found tit to be much of an advantage but they do look cool.

I shoot IPSC more than IDPA, so I already have the double belt.

Was this "street" look an older rule book thing? Or is this "requirement" just one of those legend things, where a misunderstanding from years ago just keeps popping up. I've seen this "street" look requirement elsewhere on the 'net too.

I have my second ever IDPA match on Sunday. Haven't decided which belt to use. :)
