What are your favourite mods to the SKS?

Actually,
1. The Tapco mags are only junk to those who cannot analyze and remedy any simple hiccups that may occur. Really simple stuff.
2. SKS' were not made to send lead down range. They were made to send FMJ rounds at enemy combatants.
3. LOP improvement, sure, but using a rubber pad to cover up the non exsistant recoil is unwarranted. Hell, you can shoot my M38 with x54 and see what that steel plate feels like in your shoulder and compare if you like.
Ya, I did not want to analyze and remedy something that should work right out of the package. Therefore JUNK. Besides, they are nfg for stripper clips, which is what I want. Don't nag me about what kind of f@cking bullets it shoots ok? FFS. Do you not get the point? And by the way I know what recoil is dude I have a mosin too so I don't need to shoot your "M38". Maybe people other that me shoot the damn thing that DO feel the recoil? Like my wife or one of my three daughters? Either way wind your neck in and stop trying to troll me.

I can see you get easily kerfuffled...kerfuffled. That's unfortunate. No trolling here my fellow gun nut. Just education. Which we admitingly all need from time to time. I apologize if I set you off with my direct approach.

FYI, its well known that aftermarket SKS mags and parts will typically all need some degree fitting due to the copious amount of varying tolerences from rifle to rifle.
Also, the Tapco mags do take and accept stripper clips quite well and easily. If you would like to know how, I'd be happy to tell you.
Have a pleasant and stress free day!

Yep i loaded my tapcos via stripper clips before i ran my magwedge kwikrail

Not sure if it is my favorite yet,,,;) Just finished this prototype today. It cycles well with dummy rounds so it should be ok shooting. I'll test her out next week.

Didn't ask to be edumacated, don't know why you felt the need, I ditched that crap and now spend my $ on the only thing my SKS needs=AMMO. So easy and no BS. Just load and shoot. Load and shoot:)))
OUT

Here are some (crappy) shots of my modded SKS, as promised.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAA......

Wait... you're being ironic, right?

the best mod for the SKS is the one you didn't put on. it doesnt need anything. Just the other day i rang the 200 meter gong (10" i think) fairly consistently from the standing.

i think you have the bipod on backwards. the legs when deployed should be kicking out away from the shooter not into the shooter.

Hmm, last time I checked this thread was about what mods you like to do to a SKS, not whether or not a SKS should be modded.

Maybe the SKS mod haters should start their own thread to play in? Instead of trampling through ones like this.
But I guess that wouldn't be as fun for them...

I installed A Choate Style Promag mount, and a butt pad to lengthen the L.O.P .

The rifle is a blast to shoot, and will be more accurate once I bed the stock around the rear lug, and install a better scope on it. However my bone stock ChiCom with stock iron sights, no butt pad and absolutely zero mods outshouts my Russian. While the gun can be made to look cooler in some people eyes by bolting stuff on, it really is in the eye of the beholder. That why we have the saying opinions are like A**HOLES, everyone has one. It really doesn't matter what another person thinks :)

The reality is, that it most likely will not make t shoot better, and in many or most cases it will shoot worse. Even if the shooter thinks it looks cooler.

I agree with the second. I like his mods.

I think you missed the point of my post.

The cliche "do what you want with your own rifle" and "everyone has a opinion"sentiment is fine, but that has been relayed forever here without much effect.

I what I basically inferred was for the mod haters to pound sand, as they are posting in a thread that is clearly about, and geared towards users who like to mod their SKS.

So, create a thread were they can talk about how modding the rifle is not needed and cosmetically frivolous.

Except they won't, because it wouldnt be as pleasurable to do as it is here.

There is an element of satisfaction that would be lost in "schooling" the tacticool crowd. Sad but true.

I would put a 2 or 3 inch spacer on the butt stock and leave it alone. I'm bigger than the men it was designed for, but it was designed well. It could have had a rear peep site... But that's secondary.

+1 for that unstableryan. That is my thought exactly. You have summed up my thoughts on this subject perfectly.

+1 on this thought as well. It is sad, as the debate to mod has almost completely ruined this thread. I'm the OP, and hoped that somehow this thread could be a useful resource for those looking for ideas on how to improve the platform.

That is why I posted my ever so slightly modified picture above. My version of what I wanted out of my Laminate 53 Tula.
