What are your recommendations for 22LR

This gun really works . It is not picky what ammo you give it , not like some other models. Plus it is not very expensive compaired to other models . I think if your going to buy a plinker dont even bother with other models this one is all you need.

I've got one as well and I enjoy it. I wouldn't necessarily agree with your comment about it not being picky on ammo from my experience. I had a fair number of FTE and the occasional FTF incidents but the gun has become more reliable, generally speaking, as it wears in. I've got only about 3,000 rds. through mine so far.

The only bulk ammo that has been 100% reliable in MY MP22 has been Federal Champion 525's. Win bulk is generally ok but when the gun gets dirty it FTE's fairly frequently. Oddly enough on either the first or second round out of a fresh mag.

The most fun were CCI Mini Mags and Stingers. I found Stingers slightly less accurate but they were impressive. Lots of flash from the barrel and ejection port. I think it could use a stiffer recoil spring if you were going to feed it a steady diet of those rounds.
 
I have a Ruger Mark III target and wouldn't trade it for anything else. Very accurate with the Win 555/333/222 ammos. Itried the other day a Grand Power K22 and was amazed at how well it was shooting, i wouldn't hesitate to buy one.
 
Browning Buckmark/Challenger II/Challenger or Ruger Mk II or III.

IMHO, the Brownings feel better in hand and are easier to strip than the Rugers but the Ruger all steel models are bombproof durable. I've never seen a worn out Ruger. I really dislike the feel of the Ruger 22/45.

I have had two Rugers but don't have one now. I currently have a Buckmark URX and a Challenger II.
 
How accurate are YOU?

I've found that any and all the .22 handguns I've shot are the same for accuracy. Which means that they are all better than I am and that I'm the limiting factor. I suspect this will be the same for about 98% of the shooting community.

So try a few in your hand and which fits your hands the best. A secondary issue is to buy the one which is well supported for parts and accessories.

:) Agreed. I presently have four decent quality .22 target pistols



and after any amount of use, I'd be hard pressed to say any one is more accurate than another. More of a Chev/Ford rationale in choice. As such, in the not too distant future, two will be put up for 'adoption'.
Quite a few years back when I was hot & heavy into bullseye .22 and centerfire shooting, my 'pick of the litter' at that time was a Walther GSP with .22 & .32 trimmings. The beauty of it was basically the same gun and 'feel' for both courses of fire, but in my estimation, it was the ugliest handgun I've ever owned.
 
im actually in the same position as the OP as well. (looking for an accurate 22LR pistol)

i currently own an m&p22 and its been great as a plinker but definitely not very accurate. ive been debating between the ruger mark III and the browning buckmark. im leaning more towards the buckmark contour stainless 5.5" due to it being easier to takedown (will also put a burris fastfire iii on it)
 
I had a Ruger Mark 3. Very good gun I must admit but I sold it to buy a brand new Smith and Wesson 41. What a difference in accuracy!!
I know the Smith is more expensive but it is really a tack driver and it is such a fine piece. A real jewel.

It all depends on budget. The Ruger series pistols definitely provide the biggest bang for the buck out of the box. They are built like tanks, so you can shoot anything in them without worries and I have yet to have one fail to feed or eject.

If you want to spend more the options are endless, and there are definitely more accurate pistols out there in 22cal.
