What are your thoughts on the NEA-15?

By your additional posts I'm going to venture out on a limb and say you don't have the answers to the questions I posted... Thanks.

Why don't you ask Colt Canada who makes their LPK? Would you be surprised to know it's not Colt Canada? Would you be jumping all over Matt for not telling you like you're jumping all over Ryan?
Give your head a shake man, you're looking like an idiot - first claiming that NEA internals are made by DPMS and then when confronted with your own ignorance, trying to make the argument about Ryan's reluctance to tell you where the LPK is made!

Well it has been claimed that only the first 50 were of DPMS origins. As for the rest it hasn't been disclosed yet. Some of us like to know who makes the parts to a rifle. He proclaimed to have the answers and I'm asking the questions for said answers and receiving none. He either doesn't know or doesn't want to say.

I'm guessing NEA makes them? Shot in the dark, but when a manufacturer makes a product, either they make it themselves our outsource it. Seems to me, an organization like North Eastern Aerospace, if they decided to make everything, and call their subsidiary North Eastern Arms, they would have the production facilities, and understanding to produce a relatively simple part considering their manufacturing experience...or am I completely insane?

Nothing is really simple. The AR bolt looks simple but requires multiple and alternating heat treating and machining processes. Well reliable ones do, short cut parts don't and it shows.

Our Colt LPKs are stamped "S S" as in LW Schneider.

Not made by Colt.

All my personal LPK are the same from LW Schneider.

No parts in an NEA rig are from the USA as they are made to avoid ITAR issues. All parts are Canadian made as is the BCG.

The physical trigger is obtained from the same place Sig gets theirs.

I too found it a bit odd that Spikes Tactical would make the list of "valued" AR's. They may not be the best on the market but I would put Spikes well ahead of the rest on that list.

I own 3 spikes. All factory parts are the same as Colt. LW Schneider.

Upper/Lower are forged from the same places as other high end rifles.

My Troy rifle is exactly the same.

All of them are Anchor Harvey and Cerro Forge.

Dont take this the wrong way but who are you in relation to NEA?? Furthermore, if all parts are made in Canada then why did the early guns have DPMS parts??? ITAR/import is a BS excuse, its not that difficult to import. The trigger isn't made in Canada so that kind of negates the "made in Canada" label don't you think?

At the time that I worked with NEA on a couple of projects, they were interested in non-ITAR items not for import, but for export. The goal was to build rifles which could be moved from port to port without ITAR involvement.

That did limit their options for contracting out parts, for sure. I'm not saying no DPMS parts were used; frankly I don't know as that wasn't related to anything I was doing. But it would have certainly interfered with one of their primary objectives, so if it was done, it would have been done on a limited basis.

No relation to NEA. So no offence taken.

I owned a 1st Gen 14.5" and truly had no problems with it.

As far as the early parts with DPMS. Beats me. Back then I didnt have the knowledge on the AR platform
I have now.

But maybe the parts were used in order to get the rifles out on the market?

My kid is eyeing an NEA 10.5. I have no problem buying it for her.

Does it really negate the "made in Canada" label? Ford, the most American auto maker in the U.S. reports that just<15% of the parts on their F-150 are foreign. Ford stands behide the "made in America" label because they are assembled in the U.S. By hard working Americans.

Without knowing for sure, I would guess this is the norm for most complex products that bare the "made in" label. Keeps production cost down allowing for lower consumer prices and higher profits.

Yup I got one of the first 7.62 uppers, but my light strikes have to do with running a Norinco lower/trigger. Everything on the upper has been fine.

Ok. They lengthened the firing pin a hair after the first dozen or so. I thought I had accounted for all of them but I just wanted to make sure.

Btw, I sold 3 NEA AR's last night and two people put in the comments that they were sorry I had to deal with crazies like a certain someone on here. Frankly I can't stop smiling :)

In terms of price of ammo what does 300black out compare to?

Any reviews on the PDW 7.5 w/CSS stock?? Will the CSS work with x39 or 300 uppers? Something about this tiny little gun makes me drool. Bonus when ordering from ammosource is you get to talk to the cutie sales ladie on the phone....I need to get out more, winter sucks :)
