What auto shotgun do you think is best for home defence

Personally I have gone for a short barrel pump. We have all watched enough movies that the characteristic clic clic as is is pumped may put the fear of god into someone without firing a shot. On the other hand if they are armed they now know you are. What ever you get break it in, practice with it and see which shells it likes the most. Good luck!

Fast reload by dropping in shell push button,ready to go, then reload
 
There are no bests but a 20 gauge magazine fed bullpup approx 30" overall length would work well. No fumbling in the dark loading shells into a tube mag, just insert the box mag and off you go. Short length easy and quick to maneuver in tight spaces. 20 gauge may only deafen one of your ears in a confined space.
 
Browning A5 Light 12 with a smoothbore barrel. This shotgun self loads...is very reliable and built like a tank.

Were i to use a semi shotgun that would be my choice.

Right tool for the job; go with something proven for that purpose; Benelli M4. If all you have is a skeet/hunting gun/birds head range toy, then have at her, it’s still a gun.
