What bipod??

I have two bi-pods, a Harris and a PH. I prefer the PH/Versa style, and one of the big advantages I believe is the hand-stop. If I shoot my M-7 with the Harris in place, it's not exactly comfortable against the support hand. Unless the rifle is small like my M-7, a hand-stop probably won't help the shooter unless his rifle is equipped with a rail, so he can position the hand-stop to fit his reach. I wouldn't bother installing a rail on a hunting rifle, but I sure like the one on my target rifle.

I do like the Harris no doubt but now a days I find the homemade shooting sticks are the best and easiset and I do a lot more shooting standing up.

HI!! I use a 9-13" Harris off the bench and prone on the firing point on all my rifles. When I am gopher or coyote hunting I use a BogPod redleg devil tripod. I find when it is not extended it is perfect for me kneeling or sitting. The legs are readily moved to allow adjustment for terrain and if needed they extend in enough length for even 6'4" shooters to stand and shoot well. I have shot everything from a 17 HMR to a 30-06 off them and they work well. There is also a kit to modify the BP from shooting sticks to Photo or scope sticks. The only issue I had was the company doesn't have the mounting plates as spare parts. I happened to be in a camera store this week and discovered that the Manfrotto Universal Mounting Plate works perfectly well. This will allow me to have my 35mm digital SLR, my digital video camera and my spotting scope all set up to use on my switcheroo. Food for thought for you!!

I was contacted by Chris Theissen of BogGear in Saskatoon today. They now have the adaptor plate available as parts. The adapt2 is just that - a blister pack of two plates for $24.99. Well worth the price!! I will be buying a pack so that now my camera, DVR camera, spotting scope and laser rangefinder will all be useable off the BogPod!!

No thanks , I'd sooner buy a new versa pod. The case thing is minor but the legs freezing up on me sucks.

Spray the legs with silicone spray every few years and they will never freeze again. Or wipedown the legs with whatever you wipe your coyote rifle down with when you bring it in. End of problem.

Really? I own a few bi-pods, I can't see a difference. Enlighten me.

The light springs on the el-cheapo can fold up by accident when leveling a heavy rifle. I dropped a 17 pound rifle onto a Mark 4 like that, I wasn't pleased.
Harris swivel bipods have an additional leaf spring that slows down the rotation when it gets near the extremes. The Shooter's ridge doesn't, and depending on the fore-end shape it can take a bite out of a stock when it over extends. One again, not pleased.
A bipod is a lousy place to save 50 bucks.
