On a side note my buddies MCR couldnt even run a full 5 round mag. Its now been sent back to be fixed. YIKES. This made in canada does not appear to be holding up well.

What are they selling for? Taxes, shipping, everything?
Even a first generation WK-180, if it can purchased at a reasonable cost (say ~$1K), is a decent bet.
There are plenty of parts floating about and you can accurize and update their reliability to run circles around both the Tavor and the Norincrap.

I don't believe denigrating the Tavor x95 in favour of a civilian market rifle, designed to be Canadian compliant is a winnible argument? Certainly isn't logical.

For the intended use - sport shooting and some varmint hunting? Absolutely.
One could argue the Tavor is a poor choice - certainly for the later in the accuracy department, and cost prohibitive for the former.
The only real thing going for the Tavor is the fact they are still available and in most cases remain non-restricted.
Even before the OIC the X95 was one of the most viable "black rifles" available in Canada. Along with Colt Canada and Daniel defense rifles, firearms that have gone through military trials and came out on top. Reliability is not an option in either sport shooting or varmint hunting...
Both new and unproven rifles. For the Crusader you would have to buy the 9mm rifle then add the 556 upper separate, they do not sell just the lower receiver. Those packages run from $2300-2600 depending on the trigger and stock options you choose. It is a blowback design without much review yet and also has some propietery parts. Make of that what you will.
Sterling Arms R18 MK2 is a $2849 AR180 variant brought to you by the guy that got a bunch of guns banned when he bought one a competitor was selling and promptly donated it to the Queens (hench)horsemen for review claiming they were illegal. Thanks JR Cox. Needles to say, If I were ever considering purchasing anything from him, which I would never, I would give my head a shake and promptly buy two of any other Canadian 180 variant from his competitors for roughly the same price he is charging for one of his.

Crusader Arms/Spectre LTD have indicated they will eventually sell 5.56 Crusader 9s as complete rifles in limited numbers. Pretty sure it is based on the MCR inside, just with a non-reciprocating charging handle on a more sealed receiver then the MCR. The MCR is the less breaky of the two primary 180 variants, so I would expect these to be of good quality, especially given they are a flagship product. Plus you can get them with a premium trigger and premium furniture out of the box.
I wish the R18 had a less controversial sponsor. The rifle itself looks great, the multi part piston may be less prone to breakage, and it uses the most AR compatible parts of anything but the Jard J180.
I know it's aesthetically not pleasing, but any thoughts to a Jard J180 build? You can use the complete fore-end, butt stock (A2 needs adapter), magazine, optic, and optionally non beavertail pistol grip from any AR-15 that happened to fall in a lake

I'm aware of the history of the Tavor, and what they are capable (and not capable) of, as I've owned one.
They are no where close to being in the same league as many other military grade rifles, aside from perhaps a reliability standpoint - imho.
The OP is after a rifle for 'plinking and the odd 'yote hunt' - or something to that effect.
For the outlay of cash and bang-for-buck, I'd take the WK over a Tavor, hands down.

Trying to replace your AR with a bullpup? The 180s would be closer in design to your AR15 than a Tavor.
